Library [11/13]

The library was silent Thursday morning before Sam got there, and even after he arrived, unlocking the doors and getting all the lights on, it was still fairly quiet. The only real noise came after Sam got settled when, every once in a while, he coughed, and then grumbled to himself.

Sam pretended to have to think about that. "Uh, you? You're always nice and warm."

"I suppose I can hang out with you," Peter said, teasing. "If I have to."

Sam figured a little application of puppy eyes would be useful in this instance. "I'd really appreciate it," he said.

"Okay, but just for you," Peter told him.

"You really are the best," Sam said happily.

"I'm only what you deserve," Peter told him.

That got a deeper blush out of Sam. "I wouldn't go that far," he said.

"That's where you're so wrong," Peter told him.

Sam laughed. "This is one of those arguments I'm never going to win, isn't it? Not that I mind that you feel that way, of course."

"Yep," Peter said. "Give up now and save your strength for getting better."

"I don't need that much strength, since you're going to help me get better," Sam said, smiling.

"You'll get the best care," Peter said. "Peter Petrelli special."

Sam couldn't help but smile at Peter's sincerity. "I know it'll be the best. Did I tell you that the wedding made me realize I'm kind of an idiot?"

"No," Peter said. "Though now I'm dying to hear about it."

Sam was hit with a sudden burst of nervousness, but he'd already opened his mouth, so there wasn't really any going back now.

"I just--you keep telling me how much you care about me, and that you love me, and the thing is...I love you too. And I've known that for a while, but I've been stupid about saying it."

Peter had guessed as much, but that didn't mean he didn't feel warm all over when he heard it. "I love you too."

Sam grinned, feeling warm as well. "I'd kiss you, but I don't want to get you sick too. If I can, I mean, I don't know."

"I'm willing to risk it," Peter told him.

That was enough encouragement for Sam, and he leaned over to give Peter a slow, gentle kiss.

Peter kissed Sam back, trying to show Sam all of his affection in the gesture.

Somehow, it did feel better to kiss Peter now that he'd told him his true feelings, and he couldn't fight the urge to kiss him a little more.

"You're nuts if you think we're not doing this in your room," Peter told Sam between kisses.

"It will help to keep me warm," he admitted. "If you want to take the chance."

"Could stay all night," Peter offered. "So you don't get cold."

Sam grinned. "I'd really like that. It sucks sometimes, having to sleep alone."
