"Good morning!" Edward's eyes shone golden and he seemed in a particularly good mood. Each desk in the room had a single rose sitting on it. Half the roses were red and half were white.

"Today we'll be doing a roleplay exercise. It is easy to decide to take the moral high road, but it can be difficult to resist temptation when it arises." He seemed unaware of the double entendre. "If you have a white rose, your task today is simple. Hold onto that flower. If you have a red rose, your task today is to convince someone with a white rose to give their flower to you. You may use charm, lies or bribery if you wish. You may not," and here his eyes darkened for a moment, "use threats or force. Anyone who tries will earn detention immediately."

"Before we begin, I'd like to discuss next week's class. It is popular these days to wear skimpy or skin-tight clothing that leaves little to the imagination. Dressing modestly is sadly underrated. Next week we will have a fashion show for your peers to demonstrate that clothing can be both modest and practical. Please give your clothing size to our T.A.s before you leave and remember to invite your friends to class next week!"

"I've tried, really. That's why I lectured last week. But nothing seems to be getting me more points," he said, looking the picture of innocence.

Chuck took the red rose and put it against his lips as he was pretending to think. "Do you have any ideas on how I could raise my grade?"

Kaylee tilted her head, and then smiled slowly.

"...I think y'should let me keep my flower. Tell 'im that the preservation of virginity's more important t'you than the assignment, or somesuch."

See, sometimes she was clever.

Chuck gave her a look. "You don't think he'll be able to see through my lies?"

"I think it'd do more good'n if I just gave you m'flower like I didn't care. Which, really, is kinda how I lost m'real flower anyway," she said with a grin. "But no, we should say that you didn't feel comfy takin' my rose from me. It was wrong, like!"

Chuck had to take a second to work that all out. He'd never get used to the lower-class way of speaking.

"How about you help me get an A on this assignment by giving me your flower," he said, pointing his own rose at her. "I'll promise to make it worth your while."

"But that just proves his point," she replied, frowning. "An' it don't make you look good."

She paused.

"An' how would you make it worth my while, 'xactly?"

"See, but he wouldn't find out," Chuck said. It wasn't like he could read minds or anything. "So it'd be all okay."

Chuck perked up at the thought of being able to win this through bribery. He didn't even care about the assignment; he just liked to win. "Well, Blair and I are throwing a birthday party for Eric van der Woodsen on Friday. I could put you on the V.I.P list. That stands for very important person, by the way."

Yeah, he had the feeling she'd need that explained to her.

Kaylee considered for a moment. "Two questions. One, can I bring m'boyfriend too? An' two, is it gonna get reported on that website that follows what you an' Blair an' your friends do?"

Kaylee really, really wanted to be on Gossip Girl.

"Sure, you can bring your boyfriend," Chuck said, inwardly rolling his eyes. People here and their damn boyfriends. "You can bring whomever you want."

Hope they didn't mind strippers.

Chuck smirked at the mention of Gossip Girl. "I can guarantee that it'll be reported on Gossip Girl."

Kaylee practically shoved the flower at him. "Oh! An' should I dress up real fancy or anything?"

Maybe she could wear her homecoming dress again.

Chuck took the white rose eagerly. That was easier than he thought it would be.

"Yes, you should dress up," he said, nodding. He felt like he was explaining this to a child. Lucky for her she was a cute child. "It's an old Hollywood theme. You have to dress up like a movie star."

"Like a movie star," she breathed. "Okay! Okay, I'll get a dress. An' Ned'll wear a suit or somethin'."

Chuck smirked. "Can't wait to see you there."

God help her if she found a picture of Audrey Hepburn to get dress ideas from. Blair would kill her.
