Sam was in the library a little early today, making a list of all the things he wanted to talk about with Missouri when she visited for the weekend. Whether or not she thought he'd be dying at the hands of Angela Petrelli in the future was not on the list, but the closer the weekend got, the more he wondered if it should be.

Sam went through the returned books and checked them all in, putting them in order before he went to put them back.

Sam got on the computer and sorted through his e-mail, quickly deleting all the messages with questionable subjects.

With his e-mail safely organized, Sam went into the stacks and came out with a novel to read.

The library was open for lunch, and Sam had some fruit salad which...okay, he didn't expect Dean to eat.

Sam went back to working on his list, wondering if there was anything he should talk to Missouri about on Dean's behalf.

Sam took a quick sweep through the library to make sure everything was cleaned up before he closed up.

Hurray for oversleeping! *facepalm*

Luckily Dean brought a couple of huge sandwiches and some pie with him. He took a look at what Sammy was eating. "Dude, you on a diet or something?"

Sam snickered. "Hello to you too," he said, shaking his head. "No, I'm not on a diet. We made stuff with fruit in cooking class, so I figured I'd balance out whatever you brought." He eyed the pie. "And it looks like I was thinking right."

Dean put the pie and the sandwiches down and took his usual seat. "This is what you should do with fruit," he declared.

"Fruit salad is a perfectly acceptable thing to do to fruit, especially if you don't want to mess with an oven," Sam replied.

"You saying you'd rather eat that than one of my sandwiches -- roast beef and swiss, your favourite -- and a piece of pie?" Dean asked skeptically.

"No, I'm saying it's a good addition to all of that," Sam said, reaching for one of the sandwiches to try to grab it before Dean could take it away.

Once Nathan's class was over, he headed right for the library and looked around for Sam.

Sam glanced over when he heard someone come in, and quickly closed his e-mail when he saw who it was, straightening up a bit in his chair. "Hi," he said, smiling politely.

Dean pulled it out of reach. "What would you have done if I hadn't brought food for you today?"

"Sam," Nathan replied. He had things to say but he let that sit for a moment just to see what silence did.

"You always bring food," Sam said matter-of-factly.

Sam sat still for a few moments, trying not to squirm. It wasn't like he had a reason to be uncomfortable or anything. "Uh, can I help you find something?" he asked.

"Taking me for granted now, little brother?" Dean teased, but passed over the sandwich.

"Busy weekend coming up," Nathan said, since he wasn't there for books.

"No, I just know you," Sam said. "Certain things in this world are constant, and one of them is you bringing food for lunch."

"Yeah, it seems like there's going to be a lot of people in town," Sam said. "Is your mother still coming?"

"Oh yes," Nathan said. God help us all was unspoken, but still there.

"You're lucky I really learned the 'share with your brother' lesson," Dean told him, as he unwrapped his own sandwich. "Otherwise you'd be stuck sitting there watching me eat real food while you had... fruit."
