Phys Ed: Week 6, Period 2 (Fri. 10/10)

Meeting in the Danger Shop, the class would possibly be surprised by old, sketchy bowling alley before them. Lucky for students, the concessions (while completely not real due to Danger Shopness) were open and free to all.

"Today you bowl. I've been told this is a time-honored Earth tradition involving beer, one-on-one combat, and broken fingers. For non-Earthlings, it's easy enough. Pick up the ball and toss it down the lane hitting all the pins." As Ronon spoke, he demonstrated, failing to use the finger holes in the ball as he sent it barreling down the lane, managing a strike for his trouble. "You break a finger, see Hannibal. No hitting people with the bowling ball unless it's necessary." He was kidding, sort of, but he said nothing about not hitting people with pins.

"Dress out and meet on the lanes."

Along with the usual uniforms, the locker rooms also offered a wide array of ugly bowling shoes that coordinated with nothing. Ever.

Helen blinked at the shoes, but got changed.

Friday knew the drill by now. He had some trouble finding shoes that fit properly, largely because bowling shoes never really felt right.

Hannibal LOVED the bowling shoes. He didn't care how ugly they looked, they were awesome.

Turtle had to raise at least a little voice of contention here. "Really? Are the uniforms really necessary for bowling? Really?"

Really guys? Really?

"No," Ronon smiled. He was mostly just amused by the complaining.

"Then can I change back into my regular clothes?" Really, it was only logical.

Really.

"No." There was no logic here.

"Now that's just cruel! And illogical! That's almost communistic!"

"...why does bowling need a different type of shoe?"

As she stared at them dubiously.

"So our regular shoes don't scuff the floors," Francine said as she laced hers up. "The soles are harder." Who knew dorky family outings since she was barely able to tie her own bowling shoes would pay off with useful knowledge someday?

"I suppose," she said, staring at the selection before picking out a pair. "Do they have to be so ugly though?"

Francine snorted. "No, but then neither do our uniforms." She might have been a bit too bouncy about Homecoming to really put much heart in the complaint, though.

That got a bit of a shrug, and a grin. "I get the uniforms more than the shoes, really," she admitted.

"I get why shorts and t-shirts," Francine said, starting on the other shoe. "Even if I--" Well, she couldn't say she hated exercise now, dangit, since that evil woman from the evil island went and broke her. "--'m not all that into sports. Why they have to plaster something across the butt like a target? Still working on that."

Ino laughed. "I haven't had anyone try and use it as a target on me! Never thought of it that way before!"

Francine's mouth formed an O. "I meant for staring!" She giggled despite the actual horror of the idea. "Nobody's tried the other one on me, thank God."

Gwen glared like a glaring thing as she laced up her shoes.

Sokka didn't mind the uniforms, but the shoes, now, really?

Lion-o opened his usual locker to find... nothing. No awful gym uniform. No ugly shoes. "Alright!" he said, grinning. "I guess I'm just lucky today."

There were still there, of course. Lion-o just hadn't looked down.

Eve stared at the shoes for a moment before giving a resigned sigh and getting changed.

Summer sighed. It was one thing for the uniforms to be ugly. Now the shoes had to be?

Ichigo sniffed the shoes suspiciously before he declared them safe and put them on.

Rodney didn't bother to change into the uniform (because, seriously, bowling?), but he did put on a pair of the god-awful shoes.

Dick suited up. It still wasn't quite as bad as it could have been.
