Gavin hadn't ever really run a club before so he figured the first one, he could just kind of wing it and hope someone told if he was doing it wrong. If John told him he was doing it wrong, John was getting smacked in the head.

Maybe.

Anyway, it was the first meeting of the Flight Club and it was taking place at the flight shed. Gavin had some snacks and drinks set up on a small table he'd brought. Snacks always made it better, right?

"Hey guys," he said when everyone finally arrived. "Welcome to the first meeting of this semester's flight club. I'm, uh, Gavin and some of you probably know that. For those that don't, I'm a senior and I've been flying X-Wings for about two years now. Since this is the first meeting, I figure we'll introduce ourselves, tell what, if any, flight experience we have and in what way we fly and then we can just go from there. Our adviser's Professor Skywalker and he's a much better flier than I am."

With that, he nodded and waited for everyone else to introduce themselves.

Ben Skywalker

"I'm Ben Skywalker, I'm fourteen and I've been flying practically since I can remember," he said. "I fly my mom's ship, shuttlecraft, and X-Wings."

And creepy Sith ships, but no one needed to know that.

Anakin was leaning against the flight simulator, not looking for scratches and dings at all. Nope.

Not him.

"Got a favorite?" Gavin asked.

"The new X-Wing," Ben replied promptly, "but I don't get one of my own until I'm a Knight."

Worf

Ben was a fourteen year old boy. Of course he was over by the snacks, very possibly giving the impression he'd never eaten before in his life.

"What kinds of improvements does it have over the old X-Wing models?" Gavin asked curiously.

"I am Worf. I have flown various types of shuttlecrafts and participated in several simulations including the Flight workshop over the summer."

"Shuttlecrafts?" Gavin asked. "Are they usually for transport?"

"Most of them yes," Worf replied. "Some for cargo and others for people. There are some that are specifically outfitted for small range exploration."

"So, kind of like the shuttles we use where I'm from," Gavin said. "Those don't get a lot of speed, do they?"

"Depends on the shuttlecraft," Worf replied with a nod. "However the craft used most for training is a class 2 shuttle craft which can reach speeds up to Warp 4 which is four times faster than the speed of light."

Ben launched into an insanely detailed description of the differences, ending with "also, it has stealth capabilities now."

John

"...that's pretty fast," Gavin said, laughing. "I could do with flying a shuttle that's that fast."

"...ooooh." Gavin looked dutifully impressed. "God, I want one of those."

Ben laughed. "So do a lot of people. They're not making them fast enough."

"What is the top speed of your spacecraft? If you don't mind me asking," Worf asked gruffly.
