Sex Ed, Wednesday, Period 2, Class #4
"Good morning," Edward said. "I hope everyone got through this weekend safely. Today we are discussing puberty." He talked for a few minutes about the biological changes that cause puberty and the results for both boys and girls.
"Since puberty can be very different for boys and girls, we are going to split up for the remainder of the class period. I had hoped my sister Alice would be here today to talk to the girls, but she was unable to make it. Fortunately, Miss Bennet has graciously agreed to talk to you, ladies. Since you girls outnumber us, you remain here and she'll be with you in just a moment. I hope you will take this chance to ask her any questions you would not feel comfortable discussing with me.
"Boys, we'll go to the room next door and have our discussion. All of you - if there are any questions you don't feel comfortable bringing up today, please remember that the question box is available to you as well."
Edward gestured for the boys to follow him from the room.

Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part One
"This week, we are, of course, to be discussing ..." She glanced at the desk, looking for the notes she would presume he had left for his sister, Alice, who was unable to attend. She lifted a sheet of paper, smiled at them, and skimmed it. Her eyes widened as words and phrases leaped out at her.
"Puberty," she said, weakly.
Please hold one moment while the very proper Miss Elizabeth Bennet attempts to regain her composure.
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part Two
If Miss Bennet where the sort of individual to drink, one might say she was needing a rather stiff shot at the moment.
"Well. As one makes those gradual changes, one may notice ... oddities. In one's form and carriage. One may begin to curve, unexpectedly, where previously one was very slim and boyish. One may begin to wear a corset, under one's dress, to support one's figure, and the ... curves which may require support. One becomes taller, and hopefully one walks with a more elegant gait."
"One would presume that all of you are, indeed, experiencing your ... monthly courses (http://familysurvey.com/teen/sexual_health/girls/menstrual_problems.html)," Miss Bennet said, a spot of color appearing on each cheek. "One may be somewhat unpleasant during that time, as one feels rather inconvenienced and possibly quite ill. One must remember, as a lady, to keep as cheery a countenance as possible, though I recommend avoiding those who vex you and relying heavily on tea. If you have not experienced your monthly courses, one recommends a visit to a kindly doctor who might determine the cause, although some individuals begin theirs at a later time than others."
She squinted at the notes again. "I shall have to assume that 'tampons' is some new phrasing of which I am unaware. Do note that there are sources which reassure you that your virtue is intact (http://familysurvey.com/teen/sexual_health/girls/virgin.html) despite their usage. Terribly reassuring, that. They seem to relate to 'periods.' One hopes commas, likewise, have their virtue untouched."
"One should also ... examine (http://familysurvey.com/teen/sexual_health/girls/bse.html) one's ... self frequently, though I cannot imagine why. At any regard, please do so, as it seems to be important." She looked around the room again, feeling somewhat faint. "I believe this is where I am to ask if you have questions?"

"I'm not in the manner of understanding you," she said. "Undergarments made of leather would be highly impractical. They would be clearly visible under all but the heaviest materials, and not terribly comfortable."
She was going to regret asking this, she felt. "Why would one pierce a corset?"
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part Two
"No," she shook her head at the misunderstanding, "You pierce yourself."
She stuck out her tongue to show off the metal ball on the top of the piercing. "See?" She swallowed the saliva that had pooled in her mouth. "It increases the stimulation."
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part Two
She had decided she loved Molly.
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part Two
Eliza kept discovering how very wrong she was.
"Has someone bolted your tongue?"
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part Two
She glanced around at the other girls. "I guess I could, since it's not like they're anywhere that everyone here hasn't seen before, but it's still class."
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part Two
"I am very sorry for what happened to your tongue," she said, drawing herself up as best she could. "Pray do not illustrate further; I do believe we all understand."
She didn't want to imagine where the other metal rods were, or what one might do during a thunder-shower.

"Might I inquire as to your reasoning?"

She paused, and added, "An' why am I walkin' with a gate?"
Re: Girls! Puberty Talk with Miss Bennet - Part Two
She tried to parse the girl's last question. "One mustn't be awkward," she suggested. "Better to have an elegant gait in one's step, is it not?"

As was her entire being, but that was of no matter.
"Elegance is, in part, a matter of perception," she said kindly. "There were those from London who found my town to have rather inferior manners as compared to the refinements of the city, but we conducted ourselves with decorum in all things. Having dignity at all times is the central part; the rest will come in time."
