Sex Ed, Wednesday, Period 2, Class #4

"Good morning," Edward said. "I hope everyone got through this weekend safely. Today we are discussing puberty." He talked for a few minutes about the biological changes that cause puberty and the results for both boys and girls.

"Since puberty can be very different for boys and girls, we are going to split up for the remainder of the class period. I had hoped my sister Alice would be here today to talk to the girls, but she was unable to make it. Fortunately, Miss Bennet has graciously agreed to talk to you, ladies. Since you girls outnumber us, you remain here and she'll be with you in just a moment. I hope you will take this chance to ask her any questions you would not feel comfortable discussing with me.

"Boys, we'll go to the room next door and have our discussion. All of you - if there are any questions you don't feel comfortable bringing up today, please remember that the question box is available to you as well."

Edward gestured for the boys to follow him from the room.

Eliza considered this for a few moments. "Actually, I believe most undergarments do enhance one's own ... assets," she managed, miming the barest hint of what she meant. "Lifting and supporting both ends of the hourglass while smoothing out the middle."

She tried to parse the girl's last question. "One mustn't be awkward," she suggested. "Better to have an elegant gait in one's step, is it not?"

"...I dunno what you wear, ma'am, but I just wear normal bras that don't do nothin' t'my middle. But! But d'you know how to make stuff look bigger? 'Cause it always just looks lumpy when I try t'stuff." She considered the last bit, and added, "An' I try not t'be awkward but sometimes you can't help it! But I try t'be all elegant-like, I do."

"Bras?" Eliza asked. "I see. I shall have to ... research the point. My apologies, my information appears to be somewhat outdated."

As was her entire being, but that was of no matter.

"Elegance is, in part, a matter of perception," she said kindly. "There were those from London who found my town to have rather inferior manners as compared to the refinements of the city, but we conducted ourselves with decorum in all things. Having dignity at all times is the central part; the rest will come in time."
