Library, Friday

So there was a big mysterious island full of robots and stuff about tournaments and at first Buffy thought she'd skip out on the library to go over there again and see what needed taking care of. Then she realized that the library was exactly where she needed to be. You know, let them do the research, then figure out what needed to die. Easy.

[Research team, ho! Um, not that I just called you names or anything.]

Indy was there pulling books that he thought might contain the information they were looking for. There was quite a stack going at this point and any help would be appeciated.

And whenever Buffy would tell them to talk louder he'd just grin and put his fingersp to his lips in the international signal to be quiet. After all it was a library.

After yesterday's meeting Meg's agents were rather twitchy about her staying on the island. They would have been much happier to hustle her home to DC for the weekend. She convinced them to let her stay by promising to stay safely in her room until the situation was resolved.

Which meant she needed stuff to read, so after class she stopped by the library and wound up handwavily talking to Buffy and finding out about the need for research.

Ten minutes later Meg was going through books, looking for something that would help them. She just wasn't sure what that something was.

Ender wasn't going to deny he was curious. He'd spent enough time in Fandom's library to know there was a great deal of information to be found, and so shortly after he'd woken up, he made his way to the library.

He gathered a certain amount of books and settled in.

After not finding any giant-sized monsters (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/3133769.html) in the port district this morning and then playing with swords in class, Jen decided to fall back on the information alternative.

Which meant that she walked into the library very purposefully and grabbed a small stack of books off the large one that Dr. Jones had assembled after handwavily ascertaining their purpose rly, then got to reading.

Annja showed up at the library and went to the librarian.

"Sir? I'm good at research and puzzling things out, Is there anything I can do to help?"

Tosh knew there was something strange going on, so she headed to the library, hoping there was something she could do to help figure out what was going on.

She could handle a little research. She was good with books. That's why she was currently going through some of the books she had gathered.

Hoshi didn't take long to find the library. She had decided it was better to spend her time researching instead of freaking out in her room.

Mac had learned a long time ago that she far preferred riding out times of invasion in the library researching than actually out dealing with whatever was attacking.

She grabbed herself a seat, and set to working her way through some weighty looking volumes.

Indy looked up from the book he was working and nodded gave the girl a grateful look. "Any help you can give would be wonderful," he said gesturing to the stacks of books on the table. "We're trying to find out what we can about Nemesis Island and anything that relates to it or if there's some sort of connection between our island and theirs."

Since her own stack of books seemed to be producing nothing and honestly just giving her a headache, Mac turned to Tosh hopefully. "You getting anywhere?"

Tosh was still leafing through the contents of the book in front of her. "Not yet. Hopefully there's something in one of these books."

Annja took her backpack and a couple of books to a table. She pulled her laptop out of her pack and fired it up.

She was planning on a long day.

Strange things afoot? The library was the place to be.

After finishing his classes for the day, Rodney headed over to see if he could help. Honestly, the rest of them were probably lost without him.

Huh. New librarian. "Rodney McKay," he announced as he approached. "I'm the smartest person on the island, so tell me what we need and I'm sure I can find it in no time." He really believed that, too.

"Any luck?" asked Hoshi, putting another book in her not-helpful pile.

Jen had gone through five or six books by the time she finally got what she thought might be a legitimate lead, which, all things considered, wasn't too bad. It was actually the phrase "red skies" that caught Jen's attention first; not that she was fixated with the color red, or had lingering twitchiness about impending disaster and the possible opening up of holes between all the different realities when the sky went all weird or anything like that, really. Except for how that had been kind of a huge thing for her, once.

Backtracking from "red skies," it was only a sentence or two before the word "crisis" caught her eye. She skimmed back the rest of the paragraph, and that was right about when she realized Hoshi was asking her something.

"Hang on," she said, holding a hand up. "I think I've got something. This chapter's been describing an island that -- the description is pretty vague, but it definitely sounds like Fandom."

She grabbed a sheet of blank paper and a pink highlighter (like this was a surprise?) and continued, "There was some kind of crisis --" She scrawled that word down in large bright pink letters on the sheet. "Then it talks about the 'time of the red skies --" She paused again for a moment to write that down, highlighter squeaking on the paper.

"And 'what was one became many.'" Jen scribbled that phrase down as well, underlining 'one' and 'many' with a little too much enthusiasm, and for no apparent reason. "It gets long-winded but all smudgy for a while about the actual crisis, but . . . I can make out the parts where it says that the crisis did get averted, and something about how afterward, the one remained."

Jen flipped to the next page, skimmed for a little bit, and narrowed her eyes. "And after that it goes off on what looks like a fifty-page tangent on the geology of the Ring of Fire."

[OOC: Getting this up now because it looks like I'm going to be mostly AFK for the next few hours, argh.]

Indy looked up from the book he was reading with an amused look complete with raised eyebrows.

"Well, Mr. McKay," Indy replied in full professorial mode. "If you are the smartest person on this island why don't you tell me what we should be looking for?"

"Similar incidents in the past, who these weirdos really are, why they have their hearts set on conquering us, ways to get rid of them without risking my, er, too many lives and the complete destruction of the island," he listed. "You know, the basics."

"What was one became many, but afterward, only one remained," repeated Hoshi. "I think you may have something there. But I'll bet anything else helpful in there is buried somewhere at the end. I'll keep a look-out for anything else about the red skies, though."

"Sounds like you got the right idea," Indy said tossing him a large dusty book. "Let's see what you can find, kid."
