Library, Friday

So there was a big mysterious island full of robots and stuff about tournaments and at first Buffy thought she'd skip out on the library to go over there again and see what needed taking care of. Then she realized that the library was exactly where she needed to be. You know, let them do the research, then figure out what needed to die. Easy.

[Research team, ho! Um, not that I just called you names or anything.]

Indy looked up from the book he was reading with an amused look complete with raised eyebrows.

"Well, Mr. McKay," Indy replied in full professorial mode. "If you are the smartest person on this island why don't you tell me what we should be looking for?"

"Similar incidents in the past, who these weirdos really are, why they have their hearts set on conquering us, ways to get rid of them without risking my, er, too many lives and the complete destruction of the island," he listed. "You know, the basics."

"Sounds like you got the right idea," Indy said tossing him a large dusty book. "Let's see what you can find, kid."

Rodney coughed a little at the dust as he caught the book and then cleared his throat. "Right," he said as he found a place at one of the tables. He settled himself in for some boring serious research.

After scanning through two books on islands that seemed to involve castaways and three hour tours, Indy made the rounds at the table checking in on various students.

"Find anything yet, Mr. McKay?" Indy asked with an amused expression on his face.

"No," Rodney sat back and looked frustrated. "I've been at this for ages and the only thing I've found that's even close is the account of some stupid sailor who got trapped on an island penal colony. Useless," he sighed.

"Sounds better than what I've found," Indy said leaning over the table to take a look. "What else did it say?"

Rodney shrugged and leaned back over the book. "It goes on and on about this really dangerous tunnel he used as an escape route. Apparently, it kept attacking him until he finally made it out the other side onto a totally different island that seemed to be in another world. Like I said, usele-" he stopped suddenly. "Oh."

"Sounds a bit more relevant now that you've said out loud, huh?" Indy said trying to hide his amusement.

Rodney waved his hand dismissively. "Didn't whatshername who will find the second clue say something about islands appearing out of thin air?" He didn't pause to let anyone else answer. "If that's the same as this penal colony and what's happening now, maybe this tunnel thing actually exists."

"A connection between islands," Indy agreed. "Which could definitely be helpful if we need to somehow find an alternate path to Nemesis. If there was a path between those two islands there might be another here."

He picked out another book and plopped it in front of McKay.

"Good job, kid. Let's see if you find something else."

Rodney preened a little at the praise before opening the next book and slumping back into his seat to start looking for more. He knew they were still a long way from finding a solution to this mess.
