Library [09/18]

Sam yawned as he headed into the library and started opening the place up. He couldn't stand having his room be cluttered in his newly-moved-in state, so he'd stayed up late finding an organized place for everything. For now, he had coffee, but he was looking forward to the weekend, when he could just relax and sleep in.

"Hard to negotiate without them," Peter pointed out.

"More kissing might be a good trade," Sam said, as a start.

"I see," Peter said, thoughtfully. He looked as though he was mulling it over. "Would these kisses be from me?"

Sam laughed. "Of course. You'd be the person I was sharing the bribe with, after all."

"Just checking," Peter said. "Okay then, I accept your terms."

"It really is nice that you're so agreeable," Sam teased.

"Only with proper motivation," Peter said.

"The proper motivation from the right person?" Sam asked, with a bit of a wicked smile.

"From the very right person," Peter said, grinning back at Sam.

Sam reached over the desk to try to take Peter's hand, wanting some contact with him. It still didn't feel real sometimes, being with him after spending so much time just imagining it, and the extra touching helped.

Well Peter utterly hated expressing himself through physical contact so -

No, wait, that's someone else. Peter loved physical contact, so he went to thread his fingers through Sam's.

It was possible he enjoyed the reminders that this was real too.

"I was talking to one of my neighbors when I moved in," Sam said giving Peter's hand a squeeze. "And she reminded me about Parents Weekend. Do you think your mother will come again, to see you and Nathan?"

"Probably." Peter's smile grew bigger. "That'd be great."

"Do you think she'll be okay with this?" Sam asked, unable to hide the twinge of nervousness he was feeling. There was a reason he hadn't talked to his dad yet either, even if he was almost certain he knew what was going on.

"Are you kidding?" Peter asked. "She's crazy about you. How could she not?"

Sam shrugged. "Her opinion might change now that things have changed," he said. "I'm hoping she'll still be crazy about me. Maybe if I lie and tell her I don't like your hair."

"She'd certainly love hearing it," Peter said.

"Maybe Nathan should be there when you tell her, to provide an extra distraction," Sam suggested.

"I haven't even told her about the guy thing yet," Peter admitted. "Been kinda holding it in reserve as a distraction in case too many hints about superheroing dropped, yanno?"

"Really?" Sam asked. "We don't have to tell her, if you don't want to. I don't mind. And you can keep saving it just in case."

Peter looked thoughtful. "I'll talk it over with Nathan. The powers part isn't just my secret. It's not fair to out him on that if he doesn't want to be."

"So don't out him or yourself, and don't tell her about us, and then you'll still have the liking guys thing if you need it, and you won't have to worry at all about the superhero part," Sam said.

"I like us though," Peter said. "In case you were wondering about that. I like us very much."

Sam blushed a little and held Peter's hand tighter. "I like us too," he said. "I like being...whatever we are."

"Good, because there is no way you're getting rid of me," Peter said. "So get used to it."
