And over here was another section of tables and chairs, still close to the food so no one accidentally starved while trying to avoid the masses.

Joan was relieved to see a familiar face, though she wondered when Jess had had time to change his clothes.

"So, is it as bad as you thought it would be?" she asked.

"I was not expecting the unicorn," Peter said. He hadn't made his mind up yet about how he felt about that.

"What unicorn?" Joan asked. "Have people been telling you weird things too? My big brother told me that the island grew."

"There's a unicorn wandering around," Peter said, making a gesture in the direction he last saw it. "And your brother's here?"

"School assigned sibling," Joan said. "Didn't you get one?"

She wasn't touching the unicorn thing.

"I did but she graduated," Peter said. He didn't know Sam was back yet. "You'd think I'd realize what you meant but on the other hand my brother's a teacher here, so you never know."

"I thought you said you were new, too," Joan said, thoroughly confused now.

"Oh no," Peter said, trying to think back to remember anything he might have said which confused her. "Sorry if I gave that impression. I've been in Fandom a few years now."

"But this morning on the shuttle..."

Peter looked confused. "Someone talked about me on the shuttle?"

Joan scratched her head. "No... but I talked to you. Remember? I'm Joan. You're Jess. You told me you weren't thrilled about coming here."

"Ahhhh," Peter said as he got it. "Close, but not quite. You're Joan, I'm Peter Petrelli. Nice to meet you."

"You're Peter? But..." Joan shook her head. "I'm sorry. I thought you were the guy I met this morning. He looked just like you."

"You'll get that in Fandom a lot," Peter said. He thought of Dean and Alec and said, "Some folks are practically the same person. It's a little weird."

"I'm not sure what to do with that," Joan admitted.

"Give it time," Peter said. "We all had to get used to it."

Joan twirled a strand of hair around her finger. "Do they put drugs in the water or something?"

"Sadly no," Peter said, not without sympathy.

"Okay, then," Joan said. "I... wonder if I should call my therapist."

"You're not crazy," Peter said, gently. "Well - not for any of this Fandom stuff anyway."

"Are you sure?" Joan asked. "Cause... it does seem kind of crazy."

"100%," Peter said, trying to look her in the eye so he could show her that there was no need to panic. He decided to share a little, in case it would help. "People thought I was crazy at first too."

"Really? How come?" Joan asked.

"I tried to see if I could fly by jumping off a roof," Peter said.

Joan gasped. "Obviously you didn't get hurt though."
