Sam was grumbling when he finally made it to the library, after getting lost on his way from class. He'd tried to get to the Perk but hadn't gotten anywhere close, which meant he'd arrived late and uncaffeinated. This already had the makings of a very annoying day, he could tell.

"You're the one who brought up spiders," Peter reminded him.

"I wasn't going to torment you by talking about them," Sam said, which might not have been entirely true.

"You already were!" Peter said.

"I was just going to tell you how furry and creepy and scary-looking it was," Sam said, somehow managing to keep an innocent look.

"I hate you," Peter said.

"You couldn't hate me if you tried," Sam said with a triumphant expression.

"Probably not," Peter admitted. "But you take shameless advantage of that."

"I couldn't hate you either," Sam said. "But I know you'd never take advantage of that like I do."

"Of course not," Peter said. "I'm too good and pure."

"And capable of saying that with a straight face. That's a skill right there."

"Lots of practice," Peter said with a grin.

"That's definitely a little brother skill," Sam agreed.

"Absolutely," Peter said. "It's in the genes, as well you know."
