Library [08/11]

Sam was grumbling when he finally made it to the library, after getting lost on his way from class. He'd tried to get to the Perk but hadn't gotten anywhere close, which meant he'd arrived late and uncaffeinated. This already had the makings of a very annoying day, he could tell.

Sam managed to get everything set up for the day without too much trouble. For the moment, he was ignoring the way that the system was claiming dozens of books had gone missing.

Sam had cookies to share with Dean today, if he made it to the library at all.

There was a small pile of books that needed to be put away, but Sam didn't dare wander the stacks today. He had faith that one of the other aides would be able to put them back later in the week.

No world ending today, don't worry.

Peter came in, though later than his usual time. He looked around to make sure he was in the right spot. "Okay. Books. Gonna assume it's the library."

Sam smiled when he heard Peter. "Yeah, you're really here," he said. "Did you run into trouble?"

"No," Peter said. "Which is funny when you consider I managed to run into everything else. Did the island turn into farce today?"

"I think it might be at the point where it just hates us and wants us all to go crazy," Sam replied. "I'm glad you made it here."

"You only say that because I bring you donuts and coffee," Peter said. "Though admittedly the coffee's not as hot as it once was."

"I've told you before, you don't need to bring any of that when you come by," Sam said. "Not that I don't appreciate it today. I tried to get to the Perk and ended up out by the beach. I didn't even try to get to the bakery."

"It's good that you gave up and came here," Peter said as he handed over donuts and coffee. "Or - did you? I didn't so much give up on my trip as I finally ended up here."

"I gave up and headed here," Sam said, taking the food gratefully. "Ended up back at the dorms for a minute before I finally got here."

"I wonder if teleportation would come in handy," Peter said. "Or if that'd just make getting lost faster?"

"I wouldn't trust that it would work today. You could end up out in the middle of the water if it went wrong," Sam said.

"Moot point since I don't have it anyway," Peter said. He took a bite of donut then said, "I wonder about TK? Could I have TKed the donuts here? Not that I know how to do it from a distance. Plus there's the question of paying."

"You can try TKing in here, if you promise to clean up any mess you make," Sam said.

"You laugh, but it came in handy last time with that stump," Peter pointed out.

"I know it did," Sam agreed. "That's why I'm offering to let you practice more, so you can make sure you're always that fast to respond."

"Much appreciated," Peter said. "So how's your day going?"

"Aside from getting lost, it's been fine," Sam said. "I haven't encountered any more creepy bugs, so that's been a plus."

"Don't jinx it," Peter said. He looked around to make sure there weren't any nearby. "Those things were evil."

"You're not a fan of bugs?" Sam asked, smirking.

"Not those," Peter assured him. "When they're the size of not so small animals I draw the line."

"So I shouldn't tell you about the hand-sized spider I was petting last night?" Sam replied.

"I don't need these details about your personal life, Sam."
