"Hiya!" Rikku waved cheerfully. "So are you new? Or did I just miss you from before? Welcome!"

"New," Angela confirmed chirpily. "Hi, thanks. Um, I'm Angela."

"I'm Rikku!" Rikku said excitedly. "And this place is really cool. Weird, but cool. It's okay, the weird is all safe-weird and not really dangerous-weird. Just weird. If nobody told you. But somebody probably did, right?"

Rikku always rambled a lot on newbie day.

"Seems to be the general consensus," Angela said with a chuckle. Oh, this girl was cute.

"There are icebergs, so I'm fairly convinced on the point."

"We're in Antarctica," Rikku frowned. "Madagascar was so much warmer. I hate the cold. I grew up in the desert, I can't handle freaking icebergs."

This was a major point for her.

"The island just kinda hops around, sometimes," she said, waving it off and smiling back at the girl. "That's new, it didn't used to do that. So where are you from, anyway? And are you liking it here? So far, I mean."

Angela gravitated towards the parts of that speil that didn't still freak her out a little.

"I'm from nearby," she said. "Washington DC... And it seems nice. Cold, and kind of bizarre, but otherwise--"

"Ooooh, I've been there a couple of times," Rikku nodded. "It helps that the streets are all kinda at right angles. It means I get lost way less often. And it's very nice here. Hopefully the cold's not gonna last, and we'll hop somewhere back in the tropics again. That was awesome, except for the volcano going off."

"... Volcano?" Angela asked slowly. Icebergs she could see were one thing, that there would also be volanoes... She hadn't expected that.

"On a separate island," she said, lifting her shoulders. "It smelled bad for a few days, and then there were huge storms, and right when I thought we were all toast, the island jumped again. I think that's when we went to Madagascar."

"We couldn't still be in Madagascar?" Angela asked, her disbelief on this whole situation on hold for the moment.

"No," Rikku said sadly. "Madagascar was way warmer than this. I liked Madagascar. There were lemurs and everything."

"Aww." Angela? Easily distracted from freaky by cute. "Yeah, see, lemurs I could've got used to."

"They were awesome," Rikku grinned. "And Greece and France were pretty cool. The glaciers, I mean. They're just cold. Pretty? But cold."

"Maybe I'll appreciate them more when I have the weather appropriate clothes..." Angela mused.

"There's a clothing store in town," Rikku said helpfully. "Uh. The pixie who runs it is kinda cranky, but the other people working there are nice."

"Cranky pixie..." This was going to take some getting used to.

"Yeah," Rikku nodded. "It's okay, she can't hurt you. She's just rude. Ignore her."
