"Confidence can be very attractive," Seregil observed with a small smile. He bowed back. "Seregil i Korit Solun Meringill Bokthersa."

"That's...the longest name I've ever heard," Hannibal said. "I can't beat it. Hannibal King."

"It's a culture thing," Seregil explained. "You can just call me Seregil. Welcome to Fandom."

"Seregil," Hannibal repeated. "And thanks. The icebergs are a little weird. Second ice age when I was asleep or something?"

"The island's taken up a life of adventuring this summer," Seregil explained. "It's been travelling. We're currently off the coast of a place called Antarctica. Which is generally very cold, I'm told."

"Antarctica."

Huh.

"Well. That's...new. Now I'll be said if I don't see clapping seals and walruses."

"There were some seals lounging around a few days ago," Seregil offered. "And then there were the dancing penguins."

"Damn, I missed all the good stuff," Hannibal said, making a show of stomping his foot. "You're breaking my heart here, Seregil."

"Don't worry, that kind of thing happens with surprising regularity."

"Oh, good," Hannibal said, perking up. "Wouldn't have to sue the school for failing to provide the fun and excitement they practice in their brochures."

"Believe me, this place will keep you entertained," Seregil promised.

"Well, good. Lawsuits are a messy business anyway," Hannibal said, waving a hand. "You been here long?"

"Since the beginning of the winter term," Seregil said. "It's very different than where I come from."

"Oh yeah?" Hannibal tried to guess where this guy came from. He was a pretty good judge of character. "Nevada? Nebraska? Iowa?"

Sometimes.

"Oh yeah, Skala," Hannibal said. "I've been there. Bought some Fritos at a rest stop. Except I'm lying. Where's that at?'

"It's in a parallel dimension," Seregil explained. "Completely different than the lands here."

"And now we've entered the portion of the show where Hannibal's brain does a little cracking," he said. "Parallel dimension, you say? Well. You look good for a dimension traveler."

Seregil chuckled. "You should see me when I first come through the portal. I usually spend at least half an hour trying to throw up every meal I've eaten for the last month."

"Eeesh." Hannibal made a face. "How long that take to pass?"

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"Depends on how far the portal goes," Seregil said. "I'm usually fine within the hour. Or the day at the most. And that's just me. Most people don't seem to have any trouble at all."

"Sensitive stomach?" Hannibal couldn't help but tease.

"Something like that," Seregil admitted. "I suppose you could say magic gives me indigestion."

"Burritos do that to me," Hannibal said in a weak attempt to sympathize. "How often do you go through portals?"

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2008 - 2.0)

[identity profile] therhimineecat.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not often," Seregil said. "Thankfully."
