"Hmpf," Helen said, sounding a little mollified. "You mean there will not be tutors and teachers hovering over you at every moment?"

Now, that had possibilities!

"And no, I will be a sophomore."

"Oh my gosh no, least in the experience I've had here with teachers. They pretty much just let you do your own thing as long as you participate to a certain degree. Teachers have even been known to play movies for us during class time. Teachers here? Can be totally lazy."

Amber nodded. "You have a big siblin'?"

Helen wasn't certain she would have much respect for a teacher who was lazy, but being largely unsupervised did indeed appeal very much to her.

"I do," she said. "Liz Sherman. I met her earlier."

"I don't know her. Think I've seen her around before though."

Amber glanced around.

"You settled in your room, met your rommate yet?"

"Not as yet," Helen admitted. "They have told me I am rooming with a boy. I am most displeased."

Amber grinned. "Yah, the dorms are co-ed. But it's not bad." Not that Amber would know firsthand. "What's his name?"

"Sam Witwicky." Helen's voice dripped with disdain and it was clear that she was most certainly not convinced that a co-ed dorm was 'not bad'.

"That's my fake little brother though his mun is out till Sunday! but I've not met up with him yet." Clearly this girl was a little skeptical. Funny that Amber couldn't quite blame her.

"You want a soda or somethin' to drink?"

Helen followed along. "I suppose it cannot be more difficult than Walking the Bounds," she said. "But still, it is not where I wish to be."

"What is Walking the Bounds?" Amber asked as they walked.

"Using the Boundaries to move from world to world," Helen said as if it was the most obvious thing ever. Which, of course, she knew it was not. "It can be terribly dangerous."

Amber figured her attitued would get nipped in the bud pretty soon; she was here, might as well like it, right? Of course, Amber was reasonably cheerful herself. "It's terribly dangerous yet you do it?"

"I had no choice. I was thrown into exile and stoned outside of the temple," Helen replied. "And then the Bounds called and when they call you have no choice but to go."

Helen nodded, rolling her eyes. "And, of course, Jamie was too proud to admit he didn't know what the sign meant. It was very difficult and incredibly painful to manage to get away in one piece when the Bounds called."

Amber was getting so very confused. "There's no... well, I mean, there is no eatin' people here. Or demons." Pause. "That I know of. The demons. Definitely no eatin' people."

"I don't know. If there are they probably look like humans. I consider gremlins little demons. Gotta watch out for those; they're sneaky little shits."
