"I had no choice. I was thrown into exile and stoned outside of the temple," Helen replied. "And then the Bounds called and when they call you have no choice but to go."

"I can't say for certain, but I'm hoping you'll like it here compared to any alternate that you might have been faced with otherwise."

Amber shuddered. Stoning was... wrong oh my god.

Helen sighed. "I suppose it can't be worse than the cannibal world. Or the world with only demon rays."

"Cannibal? As in... eatin' each other?"

Helen nodded, rolling her eyes. "And, of course, Jamie was too proud to admit he didn't know what the sign meant. It was very difficult and incredibly painful to manage to get away in one piece when the Bounds called."

Amber was getting so very confused. "There's no... well, I mean, there is no eatin' people here. Or demons." Pause. "That I know of. The demons. Definitely no eatin' people."

"Are there demons here?" Helen said with some surprise.

"I don't know. If there are they probably look like humans. I consider gremlins little demons. Gotta watch out for those; they're sneaky little shits."

"Gremlins?" Helen said skeptically.

"Yah, they'll sneak up on you and bite you and all sorts of funky crap can happen to you after that. It's not happened to me yet thankfully."

Helen's eyes went wide. "And these... creatures infest the island?"

"Oh, you'll be lucky if you ever see one. I've never seen one, we all just know they're around. They like to remain hidden."

"Hmmm..." Helen thought for a moment. There were many creatures that preferred to remain hidden and which many humans didn't like, but which Helen found... most pleasant. She wondered if the gremlins were at all like that.

"They can make you sing and dance and do all kinds of stupid stuff. And then, don't forget the island itself. Week before this last, we were in Madagascar."

"Sounds like Creema di Leema," Helen said thoughtfully. "And what is Madgascar?"

"Creema di Leema?" Amber asked, chuckling over the name. "Africa? Oh, right, another world. Ah, well, I'm sure you'll see soon enough. Right now we're in Antartica. But then there's the students turning into animals, the little ponies, dancing penguins. I really could go on and on..."

Urquar, but this girl was a bit crazed.

"Of course," Helen said, deciding it was best to humor her. "Well, then, I shall be prepared for the show."

Hah! She didn't believe her! Amber just grinned.

"What floor of the dorms are you on?"

"I am in Room 501," Helen told her. "I think I will like to be so high up."

Amber smiled. "I'm in 409 and usually around all the time if you ever feel like hangin' out."

"Perhaps I will," Helen said politely.

"Great! Well, I won't take up anymore of your time, but maybe we can get together sometime."

Helen nodded regally. "I am certain we shall see each other again."

"It was nice to meet you," she added in as non-grudging a manner as she could manage.

Nodding, Amber gave her a slight wave before she moved off.
