Behold! More tables and chairs, away from all the informational stuff! Enjoy the food!

[OCD is up! This is the FIRST post for general mingling. Please use this post first, if your browser can handle the comment load. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are here and there is more room for mingling here.]

"Hannibal," he said, nodding. "And it was a mutual decision for me to come here. That's what my dad said anyway and he sounded smart. Or drunk. I couldn't tell."

"Were you supposed to be able to tell?" Viki asked, not sure if she was following that.

"Sometimes it's hard to tell," Hannibal said. "He's a little...insaaaaaaaaane."

"Have you ever asked him?" she wondered. And then wondered if it was possible that the boy she was talking to was the insane one, and really, how could she tell? Insanity was so many different things...

"Ask him if he's insane?" Hannibal asked. "That's kind of not something we talk about. I really can't go out for a game of toss the football around and then broach the subject of insanity. That's more of a dinner time subject."

"Is there a list of topics and when they can be asked somewhere?" She was, really, honestly confused.

"A list of things to ask Daddy?" Hannibal asked, raising an eyebrow. "That'd be the most boring how to book ever."

"Well, I don't know," she said, flustered. "I don't know how that would work exactly. I don't remember having parents at all."

[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"You don't remember?" Hannibal asked. "How does that work?"

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Everything changes," she said. "And I can't keep up with it, so I forget."

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2008 - 2.0)

[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"You forget purposefully?" Hannibal asked.

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 04:55 pm (UTC)(link)
She blinked at him. "That wouldn't be really forgetting now, would it? But it happens... so what's the point in trying to remember when it'll only make for a headache?"

"I just didn't think memories worked like that," he said, frowning. "Even if I want to forget, I can't make myself."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Eventually things just sort of... blur," she tried to explain, "and there's no point in working at bringing any memory in particular into focus."

[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"That doesn't make sense," Hannibal said. "Memories are eternal. You know, memories, like the corner of my mind. Misty water colored memories..."

He probably didn't need to sing Streisand to prove his point.

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 05:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"It doesn't have to make sense to happen," she said earnestly. "Because it does happen, and I don't remember."

Re: General Mingling (Summer 2008 - 2.0)

[identity profile] decoder-rings.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am so confused," Hannibal admitted. "I think I'd prefer the monocle and insanity to forgetting."

[identity profile] blinkandsneeze.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
She tilted her head thoughtfully.

"It's..." Viki tried to think of how to explain it. "...how old are you?"

"Seventeen," he said. "I look good for my age."

No, he just...looked like a seventeen year old boy.

She nodded. "How old do you think I am?"

"Fifteen? Sixteen?" Hannibal randomly guessed.

"I don't know how old I am," she said, sounding unconcerned. "My looks never change, but I've been through five different wars..."

Of course, added into that, was a lot of time and space teleportation. There were reasons Viki was so confused.

"Where in the hell are you from?" Hannibal had to ask.

"Originally?" Viki blinked at him. "I don't remember."

"Are you going to forget me?" Hannibal asked.
