"What? No information booth this session?" John asked, walking over with a drink.

Dawn briefly debated whether or not fleeing was an option. Probably not. He looked like he ran. "Nope. I figure it's someone else's job now."

John made a point of running his hand through his nice, full head of hair. "Too bad. I recall hearing you gave pretty good advice."

Okay, so maybe he wouldn't kill her? "Yay? But someone else's advice could be better? Fandom won't have me forever, you know."

Wow, depression, party of one.

"True. You'll have to teach someone else your many skills," John agreed.

Beat.

"Like how to give a haircut."

She winced. "I'm sooooo sorry, John. Really, really very sorry. I don't know what happened."

"You don't know how lucky you are it only lasted two days," John said, frowning. "I had to shave my head!" It hadn't been attractive, no.

"It gave your scalp time to breathe?" Probably not helping her cause here, no.

She really wasn't. "And itch."

"I was thinking you'd like to try it." He had evil thoughts, yes.

"No!" She said, probably louder than she'd intended, as she backed away. "I mean, um, no. Thanks for thinking of me, but you've taught me the evils of mixing alcohol and scissors and I'm really, really, really sorry?"

Still, fair was fair. "Pick something else?"

"You sure you want to say that?" John grinned. This was really good distraction.

"Nothing permanent, and nothing that hurts anyone else, though I didn't think you'd really do that," she added quickly.

"How 'bout we dye your hair green?" John suggested.

Dawn sighed and hung her head, then nodded. "I guess...if it'll make you feel better. The dye has to come out after a week, though."

John reached out a hand to pat her shoulder. "Don't worry. You'll look great with a green glow." Even if it was reminiscent of too much time at the pool.

Eyeing him slightly oddly, Dawn asked, "You can't see a green glow, right? I mean, like, right this minute?"

John made a face. "Nooo, should I?"

"Just checking," she told him, feeling a nice little sense of relief there, thanks. "So, when are we doing this?"

"Tomorrow, that way there's no backing out." John grinned. He wondered if he could get hair dye on such short notice.

"Tomorrow? That's...awfully soon, isn't it?" Thank goodness for hats and Antarctica. "Nothing permanent!"
