Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

Despite the fact that they were still in Antarctica, the weather for the picnic was beautiful. It was sunny, warm, and clear enough to see many of the icebergs circling the island from the school's location. If people were still cold, there was more warm food than usual out on the tables, and hot drinks were being kept well-stocked.

Along with the tables and chairs near the food, there was a table of nametags, and two signs: one listing the Big Sibling/Little Sibling pairings, and one listing rooms and roommates for the new students.

It was time for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible.]

"What?! Oh no. No, no, no, no!" Helen's hands were on her hips as she glared at the list of roommate assignments. "I am not rooming with a boy."

She'd known this whole thing was a bad idea.

"You are if your name is Helen," Sam said wryly. "Hi, uh, I'm Sam? Sam Witwicky. Don't worry, I already have a girlfriend."

She spun around and stared at him. "And in what way would your having a girlfriend possibly change the fact that they expect me to room with a boy?"
carsexual: (Sam is panicking)

Oh boy. "It just means I'm not going to, you know, I'm not going to be interested in. You. Because I have a girlfriend." Who was smoking hot, kthx. "I mean, she's not here, but I'm committed, you know, I love Mikaela. So. Yeah."

She should probably be more worried about the fact that Sam was terribly messy. Or about the chihuahua under his arm.

He might be more worried about her affinity for spiders. And snakes. And the possibility that she might smother him in his sleep.

Though, actually, if she decided to kill someone she'd probably prefer to do it face to face where they'd see it coming.

"And what is that?" Yes, she'd seen the... thing under his arm.

Sam's car wouldn't like it if Sam got smothered in his sleep. "This is Mojo. He's a chihuahua. He's my pet. Haven't you ever seen a chihuahua before?" Optimus he could buy. But this chick looked human.

Mojo? Growled.

"Your pet?" Helen looked a little closer. "He looks a bit like a rat. I like rats."

She wondered if the affinity all small insects and animals seemed to have for her would work on this... creature as well.

"Hey!" Sam tried to cover Mojo's ears. "He's very sensitive. And manly. Also very manly and not at all girly or ratlike."

Except for how he was.

Mojo seemed kind of wary of her, but she didn't seem to be one of those robot things, so maybe he would stop growling.

Helen shrugged. "I like rats. Thought it meant I might like him. So... you are Sam." She managed to make it sound a bit like an insult, though honestly, she probably didn't intend to.

"And you're--you're Helen," Sam said observantly.

"I am," Helen said. "Thus the stupid nametag.

"You don't like the nametag?" Sam asked. "'Cause I think the nametags are pretty cool, I mean," he gestured to his. "I'm Sam, and now people know that. And you're Helen, which your nametag tells me, so I could find you. So. Yeah. Helpful, you know?"

She blinked at him. He was an idiot, it seemed. "Perhaps you should have your name embroidered on all of your clothes. That way people will always know who you are."

"No, y'know, people will get used to me, soon, and I'll know their names, you know, and they'll know my name. But we don't know each other's names yet--except I know your name, and Bee's, so maybe I'm ahead of the curve. So we need nametags."

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
She blinked at him again. "Ah... Well, I still think they're stupid. You learn names better if you ask for them and then repeat them back, not just see them pasted on someone's chest."

[personal profile] carsexual 2008-07-07 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, maybe you do, but maybe someone else learns better this way, and we're not really supposed to be memorizing names today, I think, it's just a, you know, 'getting settled in' kind of event. With free food, hey."

"The last world I was on where such a plethora of free food was offered turned out to be a world of cannibals," Helen grumbled.

Not that she thought for an instant that anyone here was, but she wasn't about to just go off cheerfully.

[personal profile] carsexual 2008-07-07 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that was cheerful. "If there are cannibals we can hide behind Bee," Sam said confidently, thinking he was being very nice by extending hiding-behind-Bee privileges to this chick.

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
"We can hide behind a bee?" Helen said skeptically. Now she really was concerned for this boy's sanity.
carsexual: (Sam and Bee under tarp)

[personal profile] carsexual 2008-07-07 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
"No, Bee. Bumblebee. Have you seen a giant yellow and black robot around here anywhere? Because that's Bee. He's my car. Sometimes."

Re: Meet Your Roommate (Summer 2008 - 2.0)

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
Helen's eyes went wide. "A giant robot? The size of a car? And this thing will be sharing the room with us as well?"

Oh, this was just getting worse and worse.
carsexual: (loosen up my buttons babe)

"No, no," Sam hastened to assure her, "he's shrunk down, he's more, I don't know, Shaq sized now. But he's got his own room."

[identity profile] elephantgadget.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"He has shrunk down to the size of a shack?" Helen said, thinking this must indeed have been a huge car. "Well... as long as he is not in my room..."
