Karaoke For Fun and Profit #7 [Tuesday, Period 5, 6/24]

The Danger Shop was reset back to the original Club Mystique simulation from week one, but this time, there was additional seating for the guests invited to be a part of the live audience. "Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen!" said Mike, taking his place on stage. "Today we have a very special performance by our workshop students. These kids have spent the last seven weeks working on their performance skills and today they're ready to show you just how far they've come. No one could be prouder than I am. Let's have a round of applause for the students."

Cue the applause track, just in case the live audience wasn't lively enough.

"So, let's hear from our performers!" And with that, Mike got off stage and went to take his seat.

[OOC: Students, teachers and townies who know Mike or any of the students are welcome to join the audience! OCD coming is up!]

Johnny was in the audience, arms folded across his chest, his eyes on Savannah.

As she waited to perform, Savannah caught herself looking at Johnny more than once.

His eyes didn't waver. He was thinking about radio and all the people she talked to about their argument.

It was probably a good thing that Savannah wasn't a telepath, because her emotions were already messed up as it was. She played with the black leather bands she had on her wrists and kept glancing at him from time to time.

He glanced at those bands too and it was life a knife to his chest. Was the action unconsciously done on her part, or was she reminding him of what an asshole he was?

That thought hadn't even occurred to her. She had covered the bandages with the leather because she knew she had invited him to this and she hadn't wanted him to feel bad -- she had hurt him enough -- that and she was tired about trying to field questions about what happened to her wrists.

They looked good with her outfit, though. She just hoped people liked her song and her performance.

When she caught his eye, she gave him a hesitant smile before going back to making sure she was looking okay for the performance.

The smile meant more than she could have imgained. Johnny's lips curved, just enough to allow her to see the returned emotion.

Savannah looked hot and he wasn't about to direct his attention elsewhere.

Probably as much as seeing him smile in return meant to her. She couldn't do anything else because it was now her turn to perform (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomhigh/1806178.html?thread=111999074#t111999074).

"Fancy meeting you here," said Mary. There had been some interesting things lately on the radio, and she really hoped Johnny and Savannah were working things out.

Johnny glanced over at Mary. "Hey. Yeah, well, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Savannah singing today."

"Good for you," said Mary. "Mikey is an old friend of mine, so of course I'm here for moral support."

"Kind of a neat class, uh? I can't imagine myself getting up to do it, but I do other things," he said, grinning slightly.

"I'm one of those people who has severe stage fright, so it's not my thing," said Mary. "Mike convinced me to get on stage a couple of times back home, but at a comedy club, not at a karaoke bar."

"Yeah, I did stand up comedy. It was the scariest thing I've done, but also one of the most exhilarating," said Mary.

He chuckled. "Were you any good at it?"

"No way!" said Mary, giggling. "The first time, I didn't get a single laugh. I did get to meet Adam Carolla, though. He happened to be in the audience that night and he gave me a few pointers."

"You are much braver than I. Ever think you'll do it again?"

Re: Audience [6/24]

[identity profile] montecito-east.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've thought about it," said Mary. "First thing I did when I got to Fandom was find a comedy club in D.C. that had an open mic night. And there's been a few people that have tried to persuade me to get on stage at Caritas and tell a few jokes."

"I would pay good money to see it," he grinned.

[identity profile] montecito-east.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe I should give it a try," said Mary. "My friend Charlotte told me that I should find myself a hobby."

Re: Audience [6/24]

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, how's that long-distant thing working anyhow?"

Re: Audience [6/24]

[identity profile] montecito-east.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"So far, so good," said Mary. "I just worry sometimes that maybe I made the wrong decision, that maybe I should have done something different. But I have a lot of good friends who keep reassuring me that it will all work out."

Re: Audience [6/24]

[identity profile] fantastic-torch.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"It will work out if it's meant to," came his soft reply. He wasn't exactly one to dote out relationship advice here.

Re: Audience [6/24]

[identity profile] montecito-east.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"And in the meantime, I still have a life to live instead of worrying whether or not it's meant to be," said Mary.
