Once everyone who wasn't, you know, unconscious was in the classroom, Deadpool nodded at them all seriously.

"Okay, first of all, anyone who was doing any kind of fighting this past weekend-- or researching I guess, even though that's more brainy than fighty, but whatever-- gets an automatic A in the class. You can all thank Jo for asking the question."

Another small nod and he started to pace.

"And since this is our last class-- good god where did the time go?-- we'll be doing something fun," Deadpool told them, gesturing over toward a few video game consoles and televisions. "Today you play a game that is full of fake blood and fatalities and FINISHING HIM."

Yes, that last bit had to be done in a low voice.

"So... FINISH HIM."

Steve shrugged. "Fair enough. I owe you one." There was a scary thought.

"I'll keep that in mind." A beat. "Maybe you could bring me cake?"

Steve thought about that for a moment. Cake he could do. "What do you want in the cake?"

"Hope and dreams," Deadpool replied promptly. "Or, if we can't do that... Ooo! Make me that possum cake from that one movie with the crying!"

Steve really shouldn't have to deal with this while concussed. "You don't mean meta for Steel Magnolias, by any chance, do you?"

It was better not to ask how Steve knew this.

Deadpool went to give him a reassuring pat on the back. "Red velvet cake, remember that!"

Steve told himself it was a small price to pay for being dragged unconscious out of the underworld, and that he was getting off cheap compared to all that beer he'd had to buy Northstar to get him to pose in costume for his art class. "Red velvet cake," he echoed. "Right."

Now Deadpool was kicking himself for not thinking of beer sooner.

Damn his need for baked goods.

"So... how's that concussion working for you?"

"It stacks up well compared to previous concussions." Steve shrugged. Between his ribs and his head, this turned out to be a tactical error. "I'll be fine."

"Good to know, good to know." A beat. "I think this is where you go home and pass out, but not really pass out because that would be bad," Deadpool whispered loudly.

"Yeah," Steve agreed. "I'll see you later." After he'd passed out again. "With cake."

"GOOD!" There was a small pause. "THE CAKE, NOT THE OTHER THING!"

Because he totally didn't care.
