Library [06/02]

When Sam woke up and discovered that all of his underwear was missing, his immediate thought was to wonder how Dean had managed to break in while he and Dawn were sleeping. But all thoughts of pranking went away when he showed up at the library and found every empty space of the desk being used for underwear storage.

The worst part was that none of it was his underwear, and that meant he was still feeling very, very uncomfortable in his jeans. His discomfort only grew when he started pulling the underwear out and discovered just what some people felt the need to wear under their clothes.

After filling a basket and marking it "Claim Your Underwear, Please" he went ahead and opened the library.

"Just today?" Peter asked. "I don't get a lifetime achievement in that area?"

"You are awfully close to lifetime achievement. But you're one of my favorite people out of everyone who's come by today," Sam explained.

"This have anything to do with the donuts?" Peter asked.

"Sort of," Sam said, being deliberately vague for the moment. "How was your morning?"

"Uneventful," Peter said. "Provided you don't count the missing clothing."

That made Sam relax a little. "So, you got hit too?"

"Not just me then?" Peter asked. "Because I was ready to admit that maybe I really wasn't paying attention on the way back to the dorms, but some things you'd think a guy would keep track of."

"I thought Dean got me, but then I got here..." Sam trailed off, pointing to the underwear basket. "Feel free to look and see if you recognize anything."

Peter peered over. "Frankly I'm scared to find out if I do recognize anything. Some things are best left unknown."

"Be glad you haven't been here to watch people search through the pile," Sam said. "I have mental images now that I never needed."

Peter silently offered Sam his coffee, indicating that he was here for Sam if he needed support.

Sam smiled softly and took the coffee gratefully. "See, it's never dull here in the library."

"I would think some dullness would be okay," Peter said. He looked at the box again. "Also I think some of those patterns are too loud to be in a library."

"Is normal, plain underwear a crime? I'm starting to wonder whether the crazy patterns are there to be laughed at, or are normal among the people here," Sam said.

"I'm going to pretend no," Peter said. "I'll sleep better that way."

"Speaking of sleep, did you sleep well last night back in your own room, and not the cabin?" Sam asked.

"Fine enough," Peter said with a shrug. "Though it feels lonlier without other people around. Besides Mac I mean."

"Yeah, I think I was just starting to get used to having multiple people around," Sam said. "Not to mention getting used to your random visits."

"My visits always had a purpose," Peter said. After all, hanging out with Sam counted as a purprose. "And yeah. It's a pain in the ass how I have to walk all over the dorms if I want to visit you now."

Peter added a dramatic sigh to this, to show his trauma.

"I know. You might get lost on the stairs, or get sidetracked by something shiny," Sam said, faking a pout.

"I'm sorry: which one of us is currently holding the bag of donuts?" Peter asked him.

Sam laughed. "I'm sorry, I meant you might get distracted by some great crisis that only you and your powers can fix."

"I suppose I can let that one by," Peter said. He held out the bag for Sam to help himself. "For now. I'll expect more sucking up in the future."

"That's fine. I'm a very good suck up," Sam said, picking a donut.

"Feel free to start that at any time," Peter said with a grin.
