Library [05/12]

Sam didn't have to open the library today, but he felt bad about not working last week...when he also hadn't needed to be here. It couldn't be said that he wasn't a total dork about his job.

Sam spent the morning checking his e-mail, finishing his coffee, and getting himself psyched up for his workshops.

Dawn showed up with a teeny cup of highly sugared turkish coffee and some watermelon and feta salad for Sam. "Morning!"

She'd had a cup or two of coffee herself, yes. "Missed you."

"Hey," Sam said, coming around the desk to give Dawn a hug. "I missed you too. How are things in the high and mighty seniors cabin?"

Dawn hugged him hello. "So far, so good. Not so big on privacy, but I know almost everybody, so it's...well, it's a lot like the other times we've been in cabins, except for last year which was way more with the snuggling. How's yours?"

"All right. I know Peter and Andrew and that's about it, so it's a lot like the first year of cabins," Sam said. "Plus no snuggling, so..."

"At least you've got Peter," Dawn told him. "Like I've got Luke and Meg."

He wasn't going to say it. He really wasn't going to say it. But his inner Dean refused to stay quiet.

"You could always snuggle with Meg if you miss me too much."

She stared at Sam and tried not to burst out laughing. "Did you and Dean switch bodies again?"

The library was closed for lunch to everyone except the other aides and Dean.

Dean came in with a bag of burgers. "Dude, this is just sad."

"You. Here. It's a gorgeous day in Greece and you're sitting in here with a bunch of old books when you don't have to be."

"I'll have plenty of time to see Greece tomorrow when I don't have workshops," Sam said.

"You didn't need to be here today," Dean pointed out, in case Sammy hadn't realized.

Sam was only around for fourth period, since he had workshops the rest of the time, and he spent most of his time in the stacks, organizing the books.

On a hunch Peter came in around fourth period and looked around for Sam.

Sam came out from the stacks with a handful of books, and smiled when he spotted Peter. "Hey."

"Hey," Peter said. "You do know that classes are over, right?"

Said the guy who'd brought coffee and donuts anyway.

"No they're not, they started up again today," Sam said. "Unless I just hallucinated going to my first workshop."

"Workshops," Peter said. "Not classes. Totally different thing."

"People still might need the library..." Sam said, trailing off for a moment. "Okay, that's probably not true, but until they get a librarian who comes in and kicks me out, I'll keep working."
