This OCD is really just to make sure my inbox organizes the comments correctly.

Three shall be the number of picnic posts thou shalt have, and the number of the posts shall be three. Four shalt thou not have, neither have thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to have three. Five is right out...

Ella filled a plate with picnic food -- potato salad and grapes, plus some shaved ham -- and sat down against a tree, watching the crowd.

Tyler still had his coffee, and was scanning the crowd for more familiar faces.

He was almost grateful they were outnumbered by unfamiliar ones.

Hahahahahha.

Kaylee had pretty much fallen in love with the fruit available, since she'd only ever had a few of these things once or twice before, and some not at all. And so she was happily sitting on the side, watching people and slowly working her way through a small mountain of strawberries.

"Are they good strawberries?" Ella asked, taking one from her own plate to see.

If Johnny had learned anything about these welcome picnics, it was to do it shirtless. So he piled a plate high, stood around looking hot, and enjoyed his food.

Amber didn't see any lutefisk, which was kind of good. She'd never really liked the stuff, even if seeing it would remind her of home.

She grabbed a can of Pringles and found a place to sit in the grass under a large, shady tree. Picnics were nice, and this one was no exception.

"Those look really, really good." It might have been that he'd never seen anyone treat strawberries with such reverence before.

"Shirtless Fridays, right?" He was still testing to see if Seely was telling the truth about Shirtless Fridays or if people randomly liked to go half-naked around here.

"Ain't it great?" Johnny smirked before he held out his hand to the new kid. "Johnny Storm."

"They're amazing," Kaylee told her, nodding and grinning happily. "I never seen so many in one place before!"

Friday shook it. "Friday Next. Considering there's at least one girl joining in? I'd have to say yes. Best new thing ever."

"Neither had I, outside a market," Ella said seriously as she bit into a berry. "Oh. These are good, even better than the grapes."

"They're wonderful," she sighed happily. "Best I ever had."

'Course, Kaylee'd only had a handful of strawberries in all her sixteen years, so it wasn't much of a testament.

Ella had noticed the shirtless boys earlier, but this one was ... special.

She wasn't staring. Honest. She was looking at ... a very interesting tree, over there.

Yes.

"Never had grapes," Kaylee said thoughtfully, enjoying her strawberries enough that she was thinking about smuggling some into her dorm room.

"The mango is pretty good too. And all the food is free. There's a kid trying to get you to pay for it, but he's not serious. Mind if I sit down here?"

"Never at all?" Ella asked, surprised.

She held a small cluster out for the girl to try. "What about gooseberries? At home those are my favorites, especially in tarts."

"Oooh, mango." She actually knew what that was. She was kind of proud of herself. "And sure thing! Ground's as much mine as anyone's to claim."

Lion-o was just looking around at all the other kids, feeling somewhat intimidated. Everyone seemed so much older and bigger than him.

"What's a gooseberry?" she asked curiously, taking one of the grapes and smiling in thanks.

Friday dropped down and wiped his dusty hands on his pants before looking out at the crowd. "Are you one of the new people too or an old person?"
