If Johnny had learned anything about these welcome picnics, it was to do it shirtless. So he piled a plate high, stood around looking hot, and enjoyed his food.

"Shirtless Fridays, right?" He was still testing to see if Seely was telling the truth about Shirtless Fridays or if people randomly liked to go half-naked around here.

"Friday Next? Interesting name," he said before he lifted a brow in amusement. "A girl is shirtless? I've... never seen that before."

"Well, she had a..." He made hand gestures towards his chest. "Bra thing on." Slight blushing. "I think she might be new. I've been trying to track her down to say hello. You'd think it wouldn't be hard to track down the only shirtless girl in the area."

He laughed; couldn't help it. "I'm gonna have to see this for myself. I mean, I wouldn't stare, gawk you know, just..." he blushed a bit himself. "I have a girlfriend."

"I don't think your girlfriend could fault you for looking at a somewhat naked girl when she's out in public. If you see her, let me know? It takes guts for a girl to take off her shirt with everyone around. I have to at least say hello to her and prove that I wasn't seeing things before."

"No, she really couldn't. She has to stick out like a sore thumb," or... something. "Maybe it's not guts, maybe that's just her. She might be one of those bra-wearing types from the eighty's. The whole open jacket deal, bra underdeath. And you might not know what I'm talking about."

Johnny paused, shoved a potato chip in his mouth.

"Where you from, Friday?"

"England. We had open jacket types in the 80s too, s'far as I know. I'm guessing from the accent that you're American. Where abouts?"

Grinning slightly, he tried to catch her attention -- better -- with a friendly wave.

Ella blushed, then smiled and waved back.

Plucking up her courage, she called, "So are you on display every day, or is today special?"

And then blushed back. Honestly, she sometimes didn't know what got into her.

Johnny flashed her a wide smile. "Today is special," he replied and stepped closer, extending his hand in greeting. "Johnny Storm."

"Ella," Ella responded, taking the offered hand and smiling. As two names seemed expected, she added, "of Frell."

"What makes today special?"

"Ella of Frell, it's a pleasure to meet you," he said, shaking her hand gently before he drew his away.

"It's shirtless Friday. It's also the welcome picnic. Ususally the tradition holds to guys, but I've been informed that there is a girl here among us taking up the custom as well. Haven't yet seen her," he commented while taking a quick glance around.

Ella glanced down at herself, rebuttoning the very top of her blouse. Nope. Her shirt was staying on. Mandy would break her personal rule against big magic, materialize and kill her, otherwise.

"I've not seen her either. She'd have to be very bold," she ventured. And very ill-bred.

Johnny watched her, amused. "I wasn't going to ask."

"That she would. Or? She was just... hot." He cleared his throat, took a drink of his lemonade. "I meant that in the literal sense. Really."

"I wasn't going to offer," she told him, raising a skeptical eyebrow. "And of course. She was merely warm, the poor girl. Someone should find a fan for her."

He wanted to say, 'good girl' but caught himself just in time. Sometimes Johnny did well enough to just stand around and look pretty and keep his mouth shut. "Right. They should. Or at least offer her a shirt. But... shirtless Friday and all. So, Ella, where is Frell?"

Johnny caught her stare of course, and since she couldn't see his smile now because she ducked her head, he offered up a friendly, "Hey, there new girl I haven't met yet."

Yeah, he was cool like that.
