Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Just off of the crowd was Cassandra's usual position. That this put her not too far from Temari's spot with a giant plate of cookies, cake, and brownies was just happy happenstance.

And now Temari was mildly upset that someone else pulled such a strategic coup'.

She nodded to the other woman, watching her stance and took to evaluating as a threat.

Cassandra's eyebrows rose as she picked up on what Temari was watching for, and then her lip curled up into a smirk. She shifted her stance slightly in a way that made it clear that she was quite competent at hand to hand combat and was ready for an attack. Then she shifted again to appear as if she'd trip over her own two feet. Then again, into a more neutral posture.

She could do this all day. (Never let it be said that Fandom didn't teach Cassandra to show off sometimes.)

...right.

Temari looked away, clearly still keeping her in her peripheral vision. To be watched or used as an ally.

She would see where this went.

With a shrug Cassandra let herself settle into a more neutral stance and walked slowly toward Temari. The other girl looked like she might be an interesting conversational partner. Or something.

"Having fun?" Temari asked, arms crossed over her chest.

Cassandra gave a relaxed nod, "The food is good."

Temari had yet to try it. Nothing looked quite... edible. Other than the desserts.

"Always important," Temari drawled. "Temari."

"Cassandra," she answered. And didn't offer anything from her plate of desserts. There were only enough there for Cassandra, after all.

"You're pretty good," Cassandra pointed out conversationally.

"You're damn hard to read," Temari shot back, a smirk tugging at her lips. It was a compliment. In a way.

Cassandra offered a small shrug, "First language. It's a lot easier than words."

"Dangerous way to speak," Temari said, reaching for a treat anyway. Could always stop her, right?

Temari's extending hand was eyed thoughtfully and then Cassandra's hand darted out to push it gently but firmly out of line. "You're not so bad yourself."

All she wanted.

Temari smirked, assumptions satisfied. "Sabaku no Temari, Jounin of Sunagakure," She said formally.

Cassandra offered a small grin, "Cassandra Cain."

"You're new."

Temari nodded in agreement.

"You are not."

With a small shake of her head Cassandra said, "Nearly a year."

"Perhaps you can explain where this island is then," Temari said, looking off at the crowd toward her very large and very stone roommate.

Cassandra rolled her eyes, "Not really? I mean... it's magic or something, so it's not exactly where it used to be."

"Magic." Temari just gave her a look.

That got a nod of confirmation. "Yep."

She had the feeling this place might very well drive her insane.

"Interesting."

"It takes time to get used to," Cassandra shrugged. "This place is pretty crazy."

"Shirtless boys and gremlins?"

Cassandra rolled her eyes, "That's the least crazy part."
