Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Cassandra offered a small shrug, "First language. It's a lot easier than words."

"Dangerous way to speak," Temari said, reaching for a treat anyway. Could always stop her, right?

Temari's extending hand was eyed thoughtfully and then Cassandra's hand darted out to push it gently but firmly out of line. "You're not so bad yourself."

All she wanted.

Temari smirked, assumptions satisfied. "Sabaku no Temari, Jounin of Sunagakure," She said formally.

Cassandra offered a small grin, "Cassandra Cain."

"You're new."

Temari nodded in agreement.

"You are not."

With a small shake of her head Cassandra said, "Nearly a year."

"Perhaps you can explain where this island is then," Temari said, looking off at the crowd toward her very large and very stone roommate.

Cassandra rolled her eyes, "Not really? I mean... it's magic or something, so it's not exactly where it used to be."

"Magic." Temari just gave her a look.

That got a nod of confirmation. "Yep."

She had the feeling this place might very well drive her insane.

"Interesting."

"It takes time to get used to," Cassandra shrugged. "This place is pretty crazy."

"Shirtless boys and gremlins?"

Cassandra rolled her eyes, "That's the least crazy part."

"Moving islands and..." Temari trailed off, waiting for more.

Cassandra's posture and tone made it clear she was not a fan. "Weird monsters attacking. And sometimes you wake up and you're not yourself or you find out that you have kids that you don't remember."

Weeeeird.

That was... weird.

"Genjutsu?"

While the word wasn't familiar, Cassandra was able to pick up some of what Temari meant from her stance. "Um... maybe? I don't really know how it works."

Exposition was really more Shikamaru's thing.

Temari shrugged, wondering how much power it would take for a genjutsu to cover and entire island.

"These things common?"

"Pretty common," Cassandra eventually decided. "I haven't been here an entire year yet and I've seen a lot of weird stuff."

Temari nodded, a small grunt for the thanks. She was good at this communicating thing, really. Better than other Sand-nin.

Oh, yes, she was more communicative than Gaara... Great job.

"What do you do back home?" Cassandra eventually asked.

It was a step up!

"Diplomatic liaison to Konohagakure."

Apparently Temari was communicative like Cassandra was literate. Which... yeah... better than nothing.

"I... don't even know what that means," Cassandra admitted as she puzzled over the extremely complex sense of the phrase that Temari's body language held.
