By happenstance it seemed that Hinata had picked the tree that Cassandra had chosen to sit in today. Which meant that she was being studied by the girl perched in the branches.

Hmm... new people.

Hinata was nervous, out of her element, and really wishing she was with Kurenai-sensei and her team. That did not mean, however, that she wasn't paying attention to her surroundings.

She slowly raised her head, turning white eyes to glance up at the person in the tree. She doubted that anyone would attack her here though, with so many other people around. "A-ano..."

"Hello?" Hinata offered tentatively.

A small headtilt proceeded Cassandra's nod and response. "Hi. You're new."

Was it that obvious? Did she stick out that badly? Hinata had a brief moment of panic before realizing that, of course, this girl must have been around for awhile and it was simply that she wasn't recognizable and that... was dealable.

Hinata took a breath and tried a smile. "V-very new," she admitted.

With a quick little movement Cassandra rolled off of her branch to flip to the ground. "I'm Cassandra."

"Hyuuga Hinata," she said, automatically bowing slightly.

The roll and flip were, in some way, reassuring. A bit like home that.

Cassandra eyed Hinata for a moment before asking, "Why are you so... hesitant?"

Hinata looked at her with wide eyes and didn't say anything. There was no real answer for that--not that she'd say out loud.

I'm here because Father didn't want me there, that I didn't find out about this place until this morning, that there's so many people and Father would expect her to be polite and uphold the Hyuuga pride.

Cassandra considered what she could see in Hinata's posture for a moment. "Want to get some food?"

Hinata tried another smile, it came a little easier. "Is there anything you'd suggest?"

Cassandra grinned suddenly. "The brownies are good."

That drew a vigorous nod of agreement. "If we're sneaky then we can probably get some without having to talk to anyone, if you want."

Hinata looked down. "I... Father would want me to talk to people," she said slowly, and it was clear that she'd much rather not.

With a quick movement Cassandra spun to turn toward the food tables, "Come on then."

Sure that Hinata is following her Cassandra asked conversationally, "So what do you do back home?"
