Blond ninja. One might think it was an epidemic at this school...

One paused to look at another, and smirked. Then shoved his hands in his coat pockets and kept walking.

Ino caught a glimpse of blond hair, and bounced a bit more. New people! Yay!

She'd probably be a lot less 'yay' if she knew who the other blond was. Just a bit.

Deidara stopped, ninja senses tingling, and glanced over his shoulder again at the blond girl.

Huh.

She had pretty good taste in hairstyles.

Whether or not Ino had her forehead protector with her, it was probably a good thing Deidara hadn't seen it yet

Sadly, Ino did have her forehead protector on her, tied around her waist like usual.

She did also notice the glance over the shoulder at her and beamed. "Hi!" Ino chirped.

The slashed Iwagakure forehead protector Deidara wore (properly!) was pretty distinctive. "Hi," he replied, smirking slightly. "Nice hair."

That made her laugh because, hello, look at him. "You too," Ino said, noting the forehead protector, and shifting hers so it wasn't quite so visible at first glance. "Maybe we'll start a trend."

"I don't know. It doesn't seem like very many people here have a sense of style...mm..." Deidara gestured to the other people around. "You aren't new here." It wasn't much of a question.

"Are you the only ninja here?" The forehead protector had not gone unnoticed. Artists tended to like little details like that.

"Interesting. Anybody important?" He hadn't been able to see what village symbol was inscribed in the metal plate of Ino's headband. Again...probably for the best.

And she was totally being a pain in the ass just on account of his forehead protector.

"Mm." Deidara reached into the zippered bag at his side, then pulled his hand out. It didn't seem like he'd picked anything up, though...

"Nobody really told me much before I came here," he said, only sounding a little annoyed about it. "It's a...learning experience. Mm."

Ino watched him warily, but shrugged a bit. "It's mostly you've gotta see it to believe it," she told him, "and learn to deal with the weird."

"I've seen weird," Deidara said smugly. He really had. None of the Akatsuki could really be called 'normal'.

Not that most of Fandom's wouldn't startle him.

"I think you would agree," Deidara said, "if you saw Zetsu. Or Sasori-no-danna, for that matter..." He trailed off, obviously lost in thought for the moment.

"No, but I've been confused for a girl before," Deidara replied lightly. "It was...interesting. Mm."

He wasn't touching the children thing. At all.

Deidara shrugged. "Maybe." A pause. "They were afterward, anyway."

"I'm not a very touchy person," Deidara said, deliberately misinterpreting her. "I'm an artist." He closed his hand, then opened it again. A small white clay bird lay in his palm, conveniently covering most of it.

"This?" Deidara looked at the bird. "This isn't art, yet."

He tossed it into the air, forming a quick hand seal. "Katsu!"

The clay figure exploded, a small-yet-brilliant flare of fire.

"Now," Deidara said, "it's art."
