Library [04/28]

Sam didn't have to open the library today, with classes being over and all, but he was pretty sure Maggie would never forgive him if he didn't let her near the books that were here.

"Don't touch anything bad!" he said as she took off running into the stacks. "I'll know if you do!"

He wasn't sure if anyone else would want to bring their kids by, but it was worth a shot.

Sam couldn't help the way he grinned at Dean. "Yeah, it is. I like that you think so too."

He dropped his voice to a softer volume and said, pride still in his voice, "He was hunting a kelpie on his own when he fell through the portal."

"On his own?" Sam said, caught somewhere between horrified and impressed. "But he's so young."

"Like you said, he's my son," Dean said, grinning. "Not that I didn't tell him not to do that kind of thing alone, but still. He's gifted."

"He has really good hearing too," Jake put in with a smirk.

"And he's very good at knowing when people are talking about him," Sam teased. "Do you hunt by yourself a lot? Because hunting goes a lot easier when you have a partner."

"'Cept that some partners don't want to let me do anything," Jake declared.

"They're just trying to keep you safe," Sam pointed out. "Just because you can kick a lot of butt, it doesn't mean you should have to if you don't need to."
