Sam was a little wary as he went to open the library, wondering if there would be anything strange waiting inside for him like last week. Luckily, there was nothing in the library but the books. Ah, books.

Sam held up his hand in the universal sign for "Give me a second," and finished the thought he was scribbling out on his notes. Then he looked up at Peter and smiled. "Hey."

"I'm allowed to talk to you now?" Peter replied, but he was teasing.

"I just needed to finish writing one little thing down," Sam said. "This is called studying. I know it's a strange concept, so it might not look familiar to you."

"Stu... dee... ying." Peter shook his head. "Can't say it's ringing a bell."

"It's what people do when they want to get straight As so they can get into college," Sam explained.

"Ahhh, imitating Nathan," Peter said, nodding sagely.

"Yeah, except I imagine Nathan didn't have to worry about scholarships," Sam said.

At which point Peter shut up on the topic since, well, no Nathan hadn't. "I brought coffee."

Sam perked up at the mention of coffee. "You get so many best friend points for keeping me awake every week, you know."

"Just doing my job," Peter said. "There's donuts too."

"Hey, it's not a job." It's possible Sam was a little sensitive about that. "You don't have to keep doing this if you have other things to do."

"O... kay," Peter said. "Now I feel like I came in in the middle of something?"

Sam sighed. "You didn't. You just...you sound a little like Dean when he talks about how he has to take care of me 'cause it's his job and he doesn't have a choice." He frowned, looking a little guilty. "Sorry. I didn't mean to get weird. I think finals make me nuts."

"Didn't mean to hit a touchy spot," Peter said.

"I know you didn't. You didn't even know it was a touchy spot," Sam replied. "That's why I'm sorry."

"Should I ask why Dean taking care of you is a bad thing?" Peter asked. "Or is this the point where as your BFF I change the subject?"

"It's not a bad thing," Sam insisted. "I just feel like he does it because he thinks he has to, and not because he wants to. It makes me a burden, and I don't want that at all."

"I assume he's already told you you're a moron?"

Sam scowled. "Maybe."

"Long as that's covered," Peter said. He dug into the bag he'd brought and pulled out donuts for the both of them.

"So, you don't mind coming here all the time, right?" Sam asked, double-checking. "Even if you think I'm a moron?"

"Sam," Peter said, reaching to put a hand on Sam's arm. "I enjoy coming here because you're a moron."

Sam shot a playfully mean look at Peter. "Oh, I see how it is. I'm your regularly scheduled entertainment, huh?"

"It was that or get a Wii," Peter agreed.

"You could still get a Wii. Then we could entertain each other," Sam said.
