Dru's Classroom: the formation of a new club

After his meeting with Grissom, Angelus made his way to Dru's classroom. He smiled. She'd left it for him to open, just as she'd promised.

He opened the door, switched on the lights, searched Dru's supplies for some poster board, then got to work.

It was going to be a long day.

"Excellent," Angelus said. "You can take care of the details?"

While she was thinking about it, she fired off another email. "Consider it done. We doubt they'll let the reporters talk, but we just guaranteed coverage." She smiles lazily at nothing in particular, "It's so good to have minions."

"I can cope with no talking," Angelus said. "Plenty of time for talking on Thursday if it comes to it. Long as we've got a record I'm happy."

"Oh, we'll get a record. We can probably even wheedle Jerusalem into getting us copies of the records he'll undoubtedly have. His cameras are.. much better than the ones we have access to. And he did say he wanted to see more coverage on the election."

Angelus tilted his head curiously. "What kinds of records does he have?"

Duce gives Angelus an incredulous look, "He's the guy responsible for the spy cameras in the school - you know, the ones noone can find any trace of, that seem to record everything, everywhere? There's no way he'll pass up the opportunity to record the candidate's debates, and probably ours as well. We can't think of any reason he'd deny giving us copies.. but who knows."

The computer beeps. Duce glances at it and grins, "And on the third day, God spake, 'Let there be cameras', and there were, and they were good."

"Really?" Angelus folded his arms as he leaned against the teacher's desk. "So where does he keep all those cameras? Don't tell me he's that interested in what we all do in the bathroom."

Duce snorts, "You've obviously never heard about his porn collection, then." Shrugging a shoulder, she answers, "We really don't know. The little bastard things are well-nigh undetectable, though, believe us - we've looked for them."

Her face is a study in irate neutrality. It's not as if she'd ever had access to those invisible cameras and used them to her advantage, after all.

"No smell?" Angelus asked. "No sound? At all? Mind you, I've got really good ears."

Duce scowls, "Trust us, no smell and no sound. Our ears probably aren't as good as yours, but we'd be willing to bet our senses of smell and taste are better by a score of," gestures towards the snakes, "howevermanythereare fold. Nada, zip, zilch.. no freaking trace. If we could get to his world, we'd buy the damn company that makes them and start importing them tomorrow."

"Seriously," Angelus said. "So the whole school is pretty much wired?"

Duce shrugs, "No clue. That's what admin has said - those warnings of 'fuck up and we will see it'. We just assume everything is and act appropriately. There's a reason we don't live at the dorms."

"And here I thought it was the shared bathrooms."

Duce smiles almost against her will, "Admittedly, that was taken into consideration. Having to wear the glasses while we showered or brushed our teeth would be a serious downer."

"How do those work anyway?" Angelus asked. "Other than that they do, and for which my still-moving body is grateful."

Duce answers simply, "They block our gaze. It's apparently not the eyes themselves, but the gaze, that causes the calcification." She makes a face, "Found that out the hard way."

"Someone took out your eyes to check?" Angelus guesses.

Duce's reply is rather amused, "Someone? Aye. Us." She shrugs, "A failed experiment. One of many."

Duce changes the subject, "People for the Ethical Treatment of Students would probably get us sued."

Angelus laughed. "Though it would be another example of truth in advertising, depending on how you looked at it."

Duce nods, quirking a grin, "Committee Undertaking Nonpartisan Treatment of Students?"

Angelus gave her a smirk in return. "Aren't we supposed to tame that?"

Duce sighs, "But it's such a fun acronym. We're really at a loss. We think we need a goal defined first. Oh Captain, My Captain, have you figured out what that is, yet?"

"Let's get through the debates and then steer accordingly," Angelus rubbed his eyes. "I need time to think."

"Yeah, at least a week. However, you don't have that." Waving toward the coffee, Duce comments, "Caffeinate yourself before you fall over." She resumes tapping away on the laptop, trying to come up with.. anything.
