Shortly thereafter, Duce walks in. She's carrying her knapsack and a 3-ring binder with what looks like org charts. "You," she greets Angelus, "are insane. The deadline's tomorrow?"

Logan passes Dru's classroom and spots Angelus inside. He raps on the doorframe with his knuckles. "Hey," he says. "How many people are you expecting at this thing?"

"Deadline for the event," Angelus said. He made a sound of frustration and crossed out the poster he'd been working on. He abandoned pen and paper and turned his attention to the chalk board, which made for easier rough drafts. "We can do more. I got permission from Bristow for posters and ads and getting info out there. But if we want to do anything that works as an addition to the debates we can't do it during other main events and we have to do it before the actual election. That means tomorrow night."

"No fucking clue," Angelus admitted. He gave Logan a grateful look. "Thanks for showing. I take it you got my message?"

"Fuck.." Duce sounds annoyed and yet, composed. Plugging in the laptop, she pokes it out of sleep mode and shoots up the mockups she did in Study Hall. "Here's what we did this morning. The slogan isn't incorporated, because we had no clue what you wanted."

The computer screen displays hip, neo-retro campaign posters mocked up on Photoshop. "We have access to a full printshop, and there's also that new one in town. So.. what goes on this? Just the notice of intent, or is there a list of candidates and issues yet?"

"Right now let's just do notice of intent," Angelus indicated his abandoned first attempts at posters. "Simple, basic: here's the club, we're meeting right now in this classroom, anybody who wants to help is welcome. Once we get past that hurdle we can do the fancy stuff. Like, you know, name this bad boy."

Angelus rubbed the back of his head. "So... what? 'Students interested in making sure that everyone has a voice in the upcoming election come to Dru's classroom'? Or maybe we want 'everyone has a voice in Fandom High' then add a note about the elections."

Angelus.

*flips off a salute*

Miss Batsh*t Crazy, reporting as asked.

"Fabulous," Angelus gave her a big and welcoming grin. "Were you able to talk to the rest of your party?"

[ooc: No worries. I figure this whole post will be the magic of flex and slow time at Fandom High]

"I did indeed," Logan says. "And I'm curious as hell about what you're planning. Oh, if you want food at this event, I'm gonna need a rough estimate of people."

I gave them the heads up. Don't know if any of them will show though.

So, what's the downlow?

Duce tilts her head back, staring at the ceiling as though it's a heretofor unrecognised source of inspiration, "Hm. 'Let your voice be heard - this time, you talk and the candidates listen'."

Frowning slightly, she comments, "Think the line's getting blurry. Is the intent to get write-in nominees or just add topics to the candidate's debates that would otherwise not get heard?" She shrugs a shoulder, "Presidential debates have sucked since the Women's League of Voters lost control of them - now they're all pre-scripted. Can probably play off that."

"Well, ideally everybody at school but I somehow doubt we'll be that lucky. As for the rest - " Angelus motioned for Logan to join him over at the far side of the room. He sat down on top of one, motioning for Logan to do the same if he wanted. "How much do you want to know? Am I unofficially helping Rory?"

"If I can pull this off," Angelus said, "which I admit is a big if, it'll be an event at Logan's House tomorrow night. My little way - by which I mean this club's little way - of providing a voice to all the write-in candidates who've been working their asses off to get elected but have been screwed out of being on stage at the debate tonight. Considering how many write-ins are on your ticket, I'm thinking this is something you guys could really use."

"This is why I normally avoid politics," Angelus said. "It's nowhere near as neat as torture and murder. Okay, avoid mission creep. The intent is that the way things stand now I'm seeing two huge groups who've got gags over their mouths: the write-ins who aren't on stage at tonight's debate, and the non-human students who are being used as convienent scapegoats for certain people's campaign strategies. Avoiding the issue of what, if anything, we'll do with this club after the election, let's just focus on that.

"Task one: the event tomorrow night which will give write-ins the chance to share a stage with whatever regular candidate has the balls to show up and risk having to ask real and unfiltered questions from the student body."

Logan nods. "I'll put in a call to a caterer." He sits down next to Angelus. "I want to know everything, yes, you're helping Rory, and I take it this is the sort of thing where she doesn't need to know the details?" He quirks an eyebrow at Angelus.

And due to the fact that most of the "JA ticket" as it were aren't write-ins, and thus have little to gain from this event, you also come out of it smelling like non-partisan roses. I'm impressed.

*grins, but there's no malice in it*

Duce listens and nods her head once, "So.. unofficial debates. Challenge to the current candidates by the write in - bold type '(Event) (Date) DEBATE - We'll Be There under images of the write ins - Will You? under images of the currents. Could also possibly use 'Procrastinating on writing your debate platform? We're not. (Event) (Date) DEBATE over pictures of the write-ins."

Drumming her fingers on the table, she also comments, "The non-nats are a wash - they're not going to vote for anyone who's painting them as villains, but most of them probably wouldn't vote at all unless they personally knew a candidate. Given a viable alternative to whichever candidate is using the villain-paint, there's a chance they'd backlash and vote for that person out of spite."

"I leave it up to you," Angelus lowered his voice so only Logan could hear. "Here's the thing: I'd be lying if I said my motivations here weren't in part due to that less than friendly attack on my buddy Bel yesterday. That campaign ad was racist bullshit and we all know it.

"Now then," Angelus continued, "I am a vamp who believes very strongly in protecting my friends. That includes Bel, but that also includes you. So, by extention, this is what I can do for Rory. I am sure that she had absolutely nothing to do with the making of that ad which anybody with two braincells could figure out was done by somebody on the staff of The Hottest Ticket.

"Obviously Rory can't turn her back on her entire political party. However I, as a non-partisan, can make it very clear to any student who wants to know that unlike some people Rory is one of the few candidates who actually cares about every student at Fandom High. If anybody tries to tear her down personally for the anti-human smear campaign, they can deal with me."

(OOC: Should Beka know this is where you are? If so, she'll come in. If not, then she'll wait for Angelus to call her or whatever.)

Angelus spread his hands wide, the very picture of impartiality. "I want only the best for Fandom High, Cal. You know that. Besides, I hate seeing people think they can walk through life and simply have things handed to them. If it is my fate to become an obstacle, so be it."

[ooc: They're going to put up posters and such to alert people. Just as soon as Medusa and Angelus figure out what they're going to say ;) ]

"That's what I'm thinking," Angelus nodded his agreement. "And we can't do a debate as such, Bristow vetoed that. But we can do an event where everybody gets to do a stump speech then, if they're brave enough, deal with the fact that they're now surrounded by the voting populace without any filters. If any of the candidates, write-in or otherwise, aren't smart enough to figure out how to take full advantage of that then I wash my hands of them."

[OOC: *laughs* She's feeling pretty solid about her decision, and has gotten support from surprising corners. She'll be quite dedicated, for her reasons, in whatever direction they decide to take this.]

Not that you won't enjoy being said obstacle.

Angelus, I don't like you, I'll make no secret of that, you just rub me the wrong way, but you do have a gift.

"Thanks, Cal," Angelus gave her a geniune smile. "That means a lot coming from you. Ditto, by the way.

"So - can I count on you to haul your ticket off their asses and come to the event?" he switched into an ironic wheedling tone. "Come on... you get to accuse all the other candidates of being huge pussies if they don't show. Tell me that's not fun."
