Driver's Ed [Period Four, Wednesday]

The Danger Shop was set up to look like a wide, flat field, with the occasional mound of dirt dotted around, it eventually led onto a series of dunes, which in turn led to a lake with jetties on the near and far banks, next to the far jetty was an ice-rink. Seriously.

Bond eyed his class for slightly longer than usual, taking in the differences in some of the students, before beginning.

"Today's class involves driving vehicles other than cars," he said, gesturing at the course. "You'll be driving four types of vehicles through the four parts of the track shown here. There are some differences in the steering between each of these vehicles, but if you've been paying attention in class you should have few enough problems and arrive at the end of the track in a timely fashion."

"Well, go on now."

Sam was very, very pleased when he realized that he wouldn't have to crouch down and pretend to be short to drive any of the vehicles today.

Turtle was not looking forward to trying to manage how to drive things with these big doofy boy feet she had right now, and her big doofy boy hands.

Jack was full of glee. Yay driving!

At the start of the course stood a group of wee tiny bulldozers.

Yes, Bond expected them to drive them.

Lee jumped into a bulldozer, hit the gas and...waited.

Damn, these things were slow.

"Oh, come the frak on and go," he groused, stomping on the gas a few times.

Sure, Sulley's legs were dangling a little too close to the tracks, but he was excited to give it a try anyway. The little engine tried its best to lug along a big furry monster.

Anyone near Sam while he was on his bulldozer might have heard him making quiet engine noises. He had to do something to make the sad thing seem more powerful.

Dōjima hopped in the bulldozer, grinning. This was hysterical.

"Hey, Bond-sensei, aren't we supposed to wear hard-hats while driving these things?"

Hee! Robin hopped on the bulldozer. The vibrations of the engine almost shook him off.

Jenny hopped onto a bulldozer. "You have got to be sodding kidding me," she muttered when she realized how piddling their top speed was. "Come on, go faster! Some of us have places to be!"

Jack was thoroughly enjoying the weetiny bulldozers, and managed to complete the world's slowest donut at the end.

A group of Dune Buggies stood ready for the students at the beginning of the dunes.

Be sure to park your bulldozer responsibly first.

Sulley realized he wasn't going to be able to fit comfortably in the dune buggy, so he improvised by driving while standing up. It probably wasn't the most responsible way of driving across sand dunes.

Robin...almost seemed afraid of the dune buggy. Isn't that silly? You'd think he expected to find someone lying down in front of it as he drove. Oh, wait, that is what he was expecting.

Silly frog.

Dune Buggies were like go-carts? Right? Right.

Which is why Dōjima should never be allowed to drive one ever, ever again.

Dune buggies were much better! Jenny approved. Whee!

It was a close thing, but Jack did not flip the dune buggy. However, there was a lot of time spent on two wheels. And jumps. Jumps!

There were one-person pedal boats off the jetty.

Anyone who suspected Bond might have been having just a little bit of fun at his students' expense might be on the right track. Might.

Sulley wasn't big on water. He also wasn't too sure whether the pedal boat would hold his weight. Still, he gave it a try and waited to see if he would sink.

"Wheee!!"

Oooh, cupholder. Spiffy. And very very slow.

Nothing more need be said, really.

This was more like it. Sulley cruised around the ice rink, resisting the urge to shout 'wheeeee'.

Steering it gave Robin some pause, but he figured it out quickly enough.

Jack felt right at home on the ice, almost as if... he was born there. ~~Or at least had a Canadian passport.~~

He wasn't smirking as he watched the students' efforts, nooooooo, not him.

SHe's around here somewhere.
