In class today there were puppies.

Well, one puppy with an odd glowy eye, a deaf wolf, and a weetiny fox.

But they were all adorable.

"Good morning kids! Today we are learning about drug sniffing dogs." A beat. "And fox."

Which was totally used by law enforcement officials, shut up.

"Now, I have hidden drugs somewhere in this room and these intrepid animals are going to show you just how incredible their sense of smell is." He looked down at them all, nodding seriously. "Go find the drugs!"

...

They all just sat there, hoping for treats. Except for Max, who started to groom her tail.

"Damn it. I knew I shoulda stolen real ones."

Dief didn't look too bored. He seemed to like the change of pace from sitting in Fraser's office all day, doing nothing.

Dief was a completely adorable puppy an awesome-looking wolf, so John decided to say hello, holding out his hand as he approached. "Hey there, fella."

Dief eyed John for a minute, just appraising him before he nosed the offered hand and nuzzled gently.

John smiled, "You're a nice dog, er, wolf I guess. Betcha don't get much work here in Fandom."

Well, he did live with six other dogs now so he was busy when he was at home. But, he couldn't tell John this so he just wagged his tail and nosed at John's hand.

"They should've hidden some treats for you guys," John remarked, scritching between his ears. "I bet you'd prefer looking for that than drugs."

Dief barked his affirmative. He'd spent time looking for drugs in the past. Treats were much better.

He wagged his tail some more and than rolled over onto his back, looking for belly rubs.

"Aww," Now that, John had to admit, was cute. He squatted down to give Dief's belly a good rub.

And Dief lolled happily, enjoying the attention being paid to him. He kicked his feet and wagged his tail.
