Library [03/31]

As soon as Sam woke up, he started remembering what had happened over the weekend, and groaned. He couldn't remember doing anything too embarrassing, aside from having a very weird conversation with Zoe, but that didn't stop him from heading straight for the library in the hope of finding things to distract him during work.

"I'm still sorry about that," Sam said, sobering a little. "I should have stopped Dean before he said anything. But I was asking more because...do you remember what you were like as a kid?"

"Of course," Peter said. He took a bite of his donut. "Why? You don't?"

"No, I do," Sam said quickly. "I definitely do. You were quite possibly the friendliest kid I've ever met."

"You're just noticing this now?" Peter replied with a grin. "Man, are you sure you're Catholic? 'cause your WASP imitation is spot-on."

"Okay, I know you're still friendly, but you have to admit, you were a lot more touchy-feely as a kid. That's not a bad thing," he said. "I just think I might have to classify you as being even more adorable than Grace."

"I like to think I still am," Peter teased, though he was smiling at the compliment.

"The jury's still out on that," Sam teased back. "But at least you're old enough now to know to stay away from balconies, so you get points for that."

"At least now if I fall I can heal," Peter said. "Or fly myself. And Nathan'll be okay. He just needs to realize Fandom isn't like New York. Nobody here's gonna freak, nobody back home's gonna know unless we tell them."

"Can you focus on not falling? I think both Nathan and I would prefer that option," Sam said. "And I'll help with beating anyone up who threatens to tell, if that becomes necessary."

"Thanks," Peter said. "See? That's why we're best friends no matter how old we are."

"It's good to know that nothing can stop us from being best friends," Sam said. He almost added 'except losing our memories' but he wasn't sure if that would make the best example.

"Lucky for you I'm stubborn," Peter said.

"And convinced that hugs will save the world," Sam replied.

Now Peter blushed a little. Lucky he had those bangs to hide behind. "Couldn't hurt, right?"

"Next time I get dragged out on a hunt, I'm bringing you with me, and we can test your hugging theory," Sam said.

Peter responded to that by very maturely flicking powdered sugar in Sam's direction.

"Oh, come on," Sam said, laughing. "Self-healing, remember? You wouldn't get hurt."

"No, but you might," Peter said, teasing.

"I'd stay a safe distance away," Sam insisted. "Somewhere where I could just observe."

"I'm glad I'm helping you in the name of science," Peter said, dryly. He feinted as though to steal Sam's donut back.

"Hey!" Sam said, reaching to snatch the donut. "Don't make me give you the look I gave the person at the bakery over the weekend."

"Awh man, you did that?" Peter shook his head. "What am I buying you donuts for? You should be sharing with me."

"We only got enough for me, Dean, Dad and Zoe," Sam explained. "I can see if I can puppy look some out of the bakery next week."

"No wonder you're my BFF," Peter said.

"I'm a very useful person to have around sometimes," Sam teased.
