Criminal Justice (As Taught By A Criminal) - Period 3 - Monday 03/24

Today Deadpool had an assortment of weapons and odd baggies filled with powder on his desk.

Fake, of course.

Well... just don't try any of them, okay? That might be the best move with him.

"Today, yes I know I mentioned learning about felonies, but I got bored trying to write it. So! Today you all are going to learn to hide weapons and other paraphernalia when people are frisking you!"

No, he wasn't even going to bother adding any not dirties here.

"Split into groups of two and get crackin'! One will be the frisker and the other will be the friskee!"

Which reminded him to pick up food for Max...

"Good luck!"

Jen tried her best to pretend she didn't have a headache right now, and nodded back. "Sure. Frisker or . . . friskee?"

"Friskee," Peter said. He was curious to see how his powers might come in handy with this.

"You know," Jen remarked, "considering what this involves I'd be surprised that this is a legal class activity . . . if I didn't know by now that the teacher was a little bit screwy."

"Maybe you're just supposed to pat down my coat or something?" Peter guessed.

Jen snorted lightly. "I'm not sure Deadpool's the type to set boundaries like that, but . . . yeah, more or less." She was leaving out the part where normally, the criminals she used to frisk weren't wearing clothing, and patdowns were a lot trickier when criminals had foam rubber chitinous exoskeletons.

"There's a whole legal thing where I'm supposed to tell you that I'm conducting this for safety reasons, so pretend I did, okay?"

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Safety reasons?" Peter asked, looking at her dubiously.

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"If I remember my twenty-first century police history right," Jen said, "the warning was something about 'for your personal safety or the safety of people around you.' Otherwise it wasn't constitutional in the U.S. to conduct the patdown."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ahh," Peter said. "I tend to hear more about rights to remain silent and have an attorney. I'll take your word for it on the pat-down."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"Sorry," Jen said sheepishly, reaching out to pat down his sleeves. "I get a little geeky about police history."

"Sounds like you're in the right class," Peter said with a smile. "I tend to get inundated with information about lawyers."

"Is that what you want to do?" asked Jen, giving him a quick visual sweep for telltale weapon-shaped bulges. Completely not dirty, thank you.

Peter gave a snort of laughter. "God no. There's enough of those in the family."

He may have tried to see if he could palm one of the example weapons and make it vanish using invisibility. He may have also had problems controlling said invisibility to limit it to what he was holding in his hand. In other words, he blinked in and out of sight a couple of times and that was it.

"Never had a suspect try that one on me before," Jen noted as she continued the frisking with professional detachment, largely unphased by the flickering; it was still a little odd to her, though, to have someone so completely human in appearance -- she wasn't assuming things -- not only as a 'suspect.' "Creating pocket dimensions to get away, sure. Teleporting, too. But not that."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Peter's shoulders slumped with frustration. "I know I can make things vanish if I'm touching them. Looks like I can't make just those things vanish. Oh well."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"Haven't got the hang of it yet?" asked Jen, half wondering if two-thirds of the student body had aspirations to some kind of slightly criminal pursuit. Or something that could be used for those purposes, in theory.

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Or for all I know it doesn't work like that," Peter said. "Unfortunately none of my powers came with an instruction manual."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Jen noted the plural, and Peter's uncertainty. "How many do you have, anyway?"

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"When you get right down to it, just one," Peter said. "I copy other people's powers. Only with some they don't fade away."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"So that's why you're not sure." Jen gave him a slight grin. "I think I might've still been able to see the outline of it under your coat, though."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Exactly," Peter said. "Sometimes I don't even know I have a power until it manifests. Like the last one."

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
"Around here, that must get a little inconvenient," remarked Jen. "Aha -- is that a bag of suspicious powder there, or did you have a craving for instant oatmeal today?"

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Would you believe I care a great deal about eating right in the morning?" Peter asked, giving her puppy eyes.

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Even Jen wasn't immune to the effects of the puppy face, it seemed, although she'd never say as much. "I guess with all those powers you need the extra iron intake, huh?"

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] repeterpetrelli.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Plus you never know when you'll be called upon to donate blood," Peter said.

Re: Start the 'Activity'

[identity profile] time-flyer-5.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Jen laughed. "Such an upstanding citizen, and yet here I am searching you for contraband."
