Library [03/24]

Sam was on a bit of a sugar high this morning, in addition to being armed with his usual cup of coffee. Luckily, Dean was giving him space and alone time again, so only the books got to witness him being jittery as he set up for the day.

The Librarian nodded to Sam, walking back to his office before the day really started.

And paused in the doorway.

There were small furry creatures under his desk. He sighed. "Same, would you happen to have a basket, perhaps?"

"I could probably find one. Why?" Sam asked, getting up and going over to the doorway as well, and staring a little. "Oh wow."

"Miss Price's pet has given birth under my desk." The faintest edge of annoyance in his voice at that.

"It's like an Easter surprise," Sam said, going over to check the bunnies. "I wonder why she's in here, and not with Adah?"

If the librarian had celebrated Easter, he might have agreed.

"Perhaps the poor creature was lost," He suggested, crouching down to look at Bob and her litter.

Sam made a sympathetic noise, and stood up again. "I can go get something for them. A basket, and maybe a blanket?"

"That would be appreciated, Sam. Thank you."

Upon closer inspection, it looked like she had used his copy of 'Tao According to Pooh' as a nest liner.

Not that he'd actually started the book yet, it was more just the odd bear on the cover that grabbed his attention in the first place.

Sam nodded and disappeared for a minute, before coming back into the office with a handwavily acquired basket and blanket. He set the basket down, and folded the blanket to fit inside.

"Should we call Adah, to let her know what happened?" he asked. "I assume you don't want the bunnies to take up residence in here?"

"I doubt she will answer if she has not come for the rabbit yet." He sighed quietly, reaching under the desk to grab a mildly annoyed Bob.

Sam frowned, and started carefully picking up the baby rabbits. "Yeah, you're probably right. Poor little guys. And girls, I guess."

Placing Bob in the basket, the librarian turned one of the babies over to see if this was true and... had no idea what was a give away on a bunny for such things.

They all appeared the same.

"I suppose I should find them homes."

"Do you think they should stay with their mother for a little while?" Sam asked. "If not, I could maybe take one." The fact that Dawn might strangle him for doing so was not a factor in his mind at the moment.

He nodded. "Perhaps once they're ready to be whined..."

What to do with the other babies if Sam would take one, he hadn't the faintest idea.

"You should make that Adah's responsibility, since it's her rabbit." That was easy to say when she wasn't here to glare at him.
