Applied Inventiontronics, Period 4 - Week 11

There were three exceptionally different items displayed on Glitch's desk today

"Well, hopefully most of you are getting close to being finished with your projects, and being finished with a project means it's time to name it," he said, grinning. Naming inventions was always fun.

"Today, all you need to do is think of a name for each of these inventions and then brainstorm on a name for your own invention once you're finished."

[ooc: Picture filled OCD is up!]

Andrew turned his head and smiled lazily at Liir.

"I should have had some coffee or something with breakfast," he said.

"If you're that tired, you need the rest," he said gently, his hand still moving.

"How are you feeling today, hmm?"

He had his early class today and so hadn't been able to ask before he left for maths.

"Better." And he wasn't lying. "I had two bowls of cereal for breakfast. Whatever Michael did seemed to help a lot."

"I noticed you perking up yesterday," he said. "I'm glad. I was worried."

He made a note to tell Michael thank you. And possibly bring more of the spiced brownies.

Andrew kept his head down, enjoying Liir's soothing touch.

"How's your invention coming?" he asked. "It's been a while since I've heard you say anything about it."

"It's mostly put together," he admitted. "I'm still working on assembling the receiver device since" he blushed "not everyone can read from the stones. It wasn't something I realized until the break that I'd even need, so it took a little longer."

He smiled at Andrew.

"Yours?"

Andrew shook his head. "I haven't really done anything to start getting it put together. A.J. and I collected some cool scraps from the junkyard, but I just haven't been able to sit down and look at exactly what I have and what I need."

He sighed. "I guess I should get it in gear."

"I'll help," he offered. "If you'd like."

He shifted his hand just once to stroke Andrew's cheek.

"And don't be discouraged. You were a bunny and then you were taken and recently, you've been ill."

Andrew giggled. He couldn't help it.

"I guess I can't really complain about things being boring," he said.

"Though I'm kind of hoping for a dull patch here."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Uneventful," he corrected mildly. He gave Andrew a faint smile.

"You're never dull."

And he wouldn't kiss Andrew in class, if only in respect to Professor Ambrose, but the affection was in his eyes in any case.

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"So what are you going to name your invention?" he asked.

"I was thinking about calling mind like the Flight-o-nator or something cheesy like that."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was thinking something along the lines of a Q.D.P.E.M.C.D.A.D," he said with a grin.

...you can see who he takes after when it comes to naming devices.

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Andrew nodded slowly. "You're joking, right?" Because he really wasn't sure.

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
He shook his head.

"No, why would I be? It's a Quad-Dimensional Psycho-Emotional Memory Collection Device And Decoder."

Beat.

"Q.D.P.E.M.C.D.A.D."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, well then that makes perfect sense," he replied, grinning. "Something that does such big things should have a big name, right?"

"And it has a ring to it -- the Q.D., um, E.A... ah..."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Q.D.P.E.M.C.D.A.D," he provided.

"I wouldn't say it does anything particularly big, but it's hard to quantify what it does do without a few extra words."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"And you do have a few of those," he pointed out. "All necessary."

"When do we get to try it out?"

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
"When it's done and Professor Ambrose has looked it over," he said. "I'm going to bring that" and the letter "to him tomorrow during office hours. Then I'm going to run some preliminary tests. Then I'm going to ask Bridge to try it out. Then you, if you're up to it."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm totally up for it," Andrew stated. "I've already been thinking about what memories I would like to try and store."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well," he explained, "there's two ways it can remember things: either by remembering it with you as you experience it, or when you give it the memory by choice.

"At least, in theory."

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"So if you give it the memory, does that mean you no longer have it or is it like a copy of the memory?"

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 04:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"A copy," he said firmly. "Almost like... like a rubbing or an imprint. The original is as it was, but you have something of a copy. I haven't checked the relative quality, of course, that will be part of the trial but no."

He shook his head.

"It's entirely passive. No going inside anyone's head."

He wouldn't.

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] wannabe-pan.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well you know I'll help out in any way I can," Andrew said, reaching over to grab Liir's hand.

Re: Brainstorm (3/24)

[identity profile] new-to-liirness.livejournal.com 2008-03-24 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
He looked over at Andrew.

"You do. In every way one can."

He reached over and gently ruffled his hair.
