Applied Inventiontronics, Period 4 - Week 11

There were three exceptionally different items displayed on Glitch's desk today

"Well, hopefully most of you are getting close to being finished with your projects, and being finished with a project means it's time to name it," he said, grinning. Naming inventions was always fun.

"Today, all you need to do is think of a name for each of these inventions and then brainstorm on a name for your own invention once you're finished."

[ooc: Picture filled OCD is up!]

"Buttony Thing," Andrew said solemnly.

It's possible he was still feeling a little under the weather and lacking drive to be creative.

"...what does it do?"

He'd add 'er' to it. Usually that worked.

"Then it's a printer."

...keep it simple. That's totally his credo.

"Circular Typewriter" Ami said after a pause for thought.

"Are we sure it's not a mechanical porcupine?" Willow asked.

"Pincushion," A.J. decided, "of Dooooooom. That's doom as in the word, not the guy with the cape and everything."

"Of course it is not a reference to my name," Doom said. "If it were named after me as well as a pincushion, it would be the Doomcushion."

"Into the whole...brevity thing, huh?"

"Doom has no patience for needless prepositions," Doom said.

A.J. frowned a little bit. "Aw, but those poor little prepositions. I know they're kind of proletarian, but they're still important."

And then A.J.'s forehead joined his mouth in frowning as he realized that he was potentially embarking on a discussion about socio-economical grammar with a guy with a big metal mask. He wasn't sure how he felt about this.

"If they were worthy of the recognition, Doom would make time for them. They are not," Doom said.

"But you totally just used some," A.J. said. He thought. He wasn't sure. He couldn't tell a preposition from an onomatopoeia.

"No. I only used necessary prepositions, not the needless prepositions I decried earlier," Doom said. "Doom carefully selects each word he speaks. Any preposition Doom deems worthy of use shall be used only when the quality of the sentence is significantly improved by their inclusion."

Anders considered for a moment. "Slightly porntastic typewriter?"

. . . it had curves. This was where his brain went, okay?

Jaina looked at the item carefully, trying to figure out what it was it actually did, and said, "Very possibly spare parts." That worked as a name, she thought.

Rodney cocked his head to the side as he examined the object. "It's a Printing Dome," he said decisively.

"A typewriter like object? Typebrain?" Anathema tried.
