There really was a severe lack of originality in the whole library technique. Adah tried to mix it up a little by making her book stacking more complicated that usual, ordering them by their titles in Kilanga, or as close to Kilanga as possible, since she was discovering that English had a lot of words that Kilanga didn't even bother to think of. Or, at the least, that she didn't know. She had a theory that the language built and grew every day.

The desk sat empty as Adah limped through the shelves with a book cart to put them away. While the variety didn't exactly change much, Adah could still, always and for eternity, put books where they don't belong.

Such as Darwin in the religion section. That never got old.

Books stacked an inordinately ordered, Adah settled back behind the desk with the sort of soft sigh that made it clear that she planned on staying there until the day was over.

The fact that Adah's yogurt seemed to look more like fufu than anything else was a good sign, she felt, that she should avoid eating it. She wasn't throwing it out, though. She was going to save it to examine at the clinic later this week. Milk fat cultures were, she felt, where the next polio vaccine lie.

Almost all of Adah's attentions were going into studying and taking notes on a book she spotted out regarding mating, breeding, and birthing rabbits. She might not be fond of her situation, but, if her bunny was going to have babies, then, dammit, she would make herself the world's best one handed rabbit midwife.

It turned out that the reason that rabbits were mythologized to have so many offspring was because of the quick gestation period of twenty-eight to thirty-one days. Adah's notes became covered in jotted down speculations of exactly how far along Bob was, before that just left her frustrated and nervous, so she went back to studying anatomy for the well-overdue personal ob-gyn appointment Bob would have this weekend...Ugh.

After last week's no show, Lee made sure he was there this week. He pushed into the library and wandered over to the desk quietly.

"Hey there," he said once he'd made it to the desk.

For a moment, Adah, looking somewhere between disturbed and displeased, looked up toward the Eel as he arrived, looked down at her research, and then sighed as she looked back toward him. "I'm expanding my repitore of expertise," she informed him, miserably, pushing the book open on the desk forward so that he could have a look and see all the fun-filled paragraphs and pictures of a rabbit's reproductive anatomy that had been keeping her company.

"...why?" Lee asked immediately. "Something wrong with your rabbit?"

"Take a real good look at exactly what part of my rabbit this concerns," Adah said, nodding toward the book but keeping her eyes steadily on him. "You're a smart fellow. Let's see if you can figure it out."

"You called me smart," he said, grinning before looking back down at the book. "Uh oh."

He winced, looking up at her. "Baby bunnies?"

The Eel would have to excuse Adah for a moment as she rolled her eyes at what he noticed most out of her comments. Like it was the first time she ever called him smart.

Although she supposed it could be a moment for occasion when it wasn't prefaced with For someone so stupid...

She gave a slow, careful, sighing as she pulled the book back, taking a piece of paper to mark her page and she closed it, pushing it aside in the other direction; she had quite had enough of her veterinary crash course today. "Thankfully, despite the mythology, only about nine at most. Only. But, Bob's harlotry aside, how are you?" And she looked up at the Eel with a slight, quirked smile, a bit more restrained that it would have otherwise been.

"Not bad," he said and smiled. "Glad all that crap from last week is over and done with."

"Agreed." Adah tilted her head, expression gaining a cool lift her her eyebrow. "I don't like having to hate you for making me worry all the time. It takes too much energy."

"I'm still sorry about that," he said and looking innocent. "I helped get rid of them though!"

"And you've gone a whole five seconds without going into telling me all about your intrepid heroics?" Adah shot back smoothly with a smirk. "I'm impressed."

"Well, you might like this one," he said and grinned but didn't tell her right off. Just because he was feeling bratty.

Adah narrowed her eyes, slightly, tib a tsuj. "What makes you think that I would?"

"Because of how I helped," he said, leaning on the desk some. "Where I went."

"And that is?" Adah asked, leaning forward with her arm folded over on the desk to support her. "I have to admit, I'm not very impressed by vagueness."

"West Africa," he said, raising both eyebrows.

Adah's eyebrows also lifted; at least she knew that she could depend on the fact that one was uncontrolled by the nature of her usual asymmetry. "Following up the lead I picked out," she commented against the unbidden spread of her smirk. "What did you think about it? About where, exactly, were you sent? Africa's a pretty big continent."

"We were in...Mali, I think?" Lee said. "Sahara desert, I do remember. Lots and lots of desert. It was hot. And that sun was just beating down and it wouldn't stop and there were bandits."

With a light chuckle, Adah wrinkled her nose a little. "The Congo, if it's even still called that, was just south of the Sahara, so we had fewer desert and more jungle, but no bandits, I have to admit. Instead, we had guerrilla armies of children armed with stolen rifles." She punctuated the comparison with a look that, considering how the bandits were clearly not as good of shots as those children, that her situation won despite all the desert in his.
