Library [3.14]

Karal wasn't alone when he opened the library this morning. Altra was walking ahead of him, Evey was walking beside him, and he was grateful for their company.

He made sure Evey was happily settled in the stacks with a pile of books and a cup of tea, then set about opening the library.

Angels aren't the only ones that can move quickly when unwatched. A bag of lunch (coddled eggs, spiced and soured beef, and seasoned carrots) was left just inside the library doors, the only mark of a 'perpetrator' the sound of the closing door right after it appeared.

Karal was hardly the only one having difficulty keeping still, so at some point there was an Evey at his side, looking just as restless. "Can I help with anything?"

Evey's hand in turn slipped up to gently touch his shoulder, trying to soothe as she could. "That doesn't sound terribly difficult," she said lightly.

"Hardly," she promised, leaning into him. "But I don't like feeling helpless or useless."

Anathema had a stack of books from which she was diligently taking notes.

Sokka was there early, poring over books -- completely random ones, since that seemed to help, yesterday.

He was also simultaneously using a pencil to do one-handed battle with a horde of pi-rats who were intent on stealing his books. Ahhhh, multitasking!

G’Kar snagged a few books, made a few photocopies, then took off with his work in hand. He’d spotted something unusual (http://community.livejournal.com/fandomtownies/2597186.html) on his way to the library and it left a cold feeling in the pit of his stomach.

Anemone waved at Karal as she slipped in quietly, back for another day of research.

Not wanting to interrupt anyone else's research (well...except hers, clearly), and since he found himself pretty much capable of doing little more than staring at things and wondering why he wasn't any good at this sort of thing, A.J. decided to take a break and flick a small ball of paper toward Anemone, because he was there and he could say hi and maybe see how she was doing with all this.

Anemone had been trying to bribe one of the Pi-rats into finding her a new book when she was mysteriously hit by a paper ball. Only not so mysteriously, because she could back-track the trajectory pretty easily.

"Bored," she announced, abandoning her research to flop down next to A.J. "I think my brain is leaking out my ears."

A.J. gave Anemone a small, tight lipped sort of smile as he tilted his head in a way to better inspect her ears. "Look unleaked so far to me," he offered. "Hard to tell with all that hair there, though." The smile grew a bit. "But I hear you. Don't even really know what to look for."

"I should have you braid my hair, keep it back so that the brains doesn't get tangled in it," she joked. "Right now I'm sorting stuff into two piles, trash and not-trash. It's dull, but someone needs to do it."

A.J. really had his doubts that he could be any help at all, but he figured it would hurt to try, heading down to the library with the doubtful worry clear in his face and he boggled over where he could even start.

Cable was here, at various times of the day, much like previously; if there was anything particularily frustrated about his walk, well, the only person who could reasonably have commented upon it was currently stuck in the past.

He wasn't thinking about this. Mostly, he was trying to shake off the feeling of being akin to a caged tiger right now.

Eventually, Adah managed to limp her crippled butt into the library, although she was still yawning. As mentally salvaging as her recuperating plans had been last night and this morning, they actually did little to make up for yesterday's lack of sleep. Still, there were book to be read and information to attempt to collect, so being tired didn't matter. She could thrive on this in the way that some automobiles could thrive on fumes.
