Ye Shall Be As Gods? – Class 9, Period 3

On the walls today were several blown up pictures of Gnosis. Juli was mildly irritated with the pictures, they weren’t the quality she was used to working with, but really it was the best she’d been able to do.

Getting her computer which, like her, had come from the far future, to work at all with a printer from the current period of time had been a battle and a half. It would do. She eyed her class, counting heads, and waiting for as many of them to be seated as were showing up today. At least, and here she was mildly amused, there were no sparkle-balls in her class this week.

“We’ll be talking about monsters today,” Juli said, “the pictures on the walls are monsters from my home universe. We called them Gnosis. Their chemical composition is that of mere table salt and water—and their touch is enough to turn a human to salt. In very rare cases though, for whatever reason, a human who is touched by a Gnosis is turned not to salt but into a Gnosis themselves. They are not natural. They were drawn into my home universe by a madman.” Joachim Mizrahi.

Her husband. Juli’s eyes narrowed slightly but that was all the reaction that showed.

She clasped her hands together in front of her. “We have discussed genetic mutation before, but in this case I am not interested in those mutations that have been used for good. Monsters, by very definition, are destructive.”

“What monsters are there in your worlds? Why would you consider them to be monsters? What, in your experience, would you figure is the reason anyone would create monsters? These are your questions for today. Group up, however you will, and go over them, please.”

[Wait for the OCD is up! Yay!]

Sky was quite relieved to be able to participate in class this week. Not so relieved that Troy hadn't ever called him back yesterday... but said worry was pushed out of his mind briefly at the idea of monsters turning people into salt. It may, perhaps, sound odd to some members of the class- but it was a distinct possibility in their universe.

Peter stared at the pictures for a moment before considering that Doctor Mizrahi thought Peter's stories of Goblin monsters were weird. She had no room to talk.

Anemone almost clapped with glee when she saw the images. They looked like Antibody Coralians (http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r56/Outrider42/Eureka%207%20Episode%20Caps/Eureka%207%20Ep%2050%20Caps/outriderE7Ep50cap090.jpg)! She wasn't the only reality with giant floating alien lifeforms!

Strangely, this made her very very happy.

Naminé was sitting with her arms folded, looking off to the side. Somewhat huffy. Which was not a typical state for Naminé.

Jen was completely and utterly nonplussed over the table salt monsters. That sort of thing? Kinda par for the course in her world.

"As someone who was created specifically to bring chaos, death and destruction everywhere I go? I object to the implication that I'm being labeled as evil," Anemone complained. "Following my instincts isn't wrong, it's just what I am. You don't blame a cat for killing a mouse."

Bridge could rattle of a list of answers to any one of those questions. He looks around for someone to pair up with.

Yeah, if they were getting into this with Z (or, you know, about half the class), they might be here a while...

Like his teammates, Sky could talk about this topic at great length. He thought it would be rather unfair for any of them to pair up, since they'd just tell each other what they already knew, so he looked for another partner.

Oh, this was definitely something Adam could talk about for a while. He looked around for a partner, wondering what other people might give as answers.

Jen grimaced. "I could talk about this, but we'd be here for at least a week straight . . ."

She was from a thousand years into the future of Bridge, Z, Sky, and Adam's world (or a variant of it anyway). That's way more more theoretical seasons' years' worth of monsters . . .

Kabuto was there.

Totally not late, the mun is just half-dead from tired.

Naminé walked up to the teacher, after class, still cooler than her normal mood. "Are we not even to discuss our midterms?" she asked.

WHALES THAT TURN PEOPLE INTO SALT. That's just... wow. Sky isn't too surprised (it wasn't in his season, but one Power Rangers Turbo episode had the heroes being BAKED INTO A GIANT PIZZA), but that's a new one to me. XD

Naminé's canon had a space whale that ate a gummi ship, and then Our Heroes had to rescue a puppet from stomach juices and have a meaningful conversation about his conscience.

Rikku does not want to talk about the space whale in hers.

I've got flying robots named after drum machines, the most destructive force in the universe manifests as giant rainbow donuts, and the deadliest pilot is a girl addicted to strawberry jam and hoop skirts.

I'm still trying to find an aspect of Eureka SeveN that isn't made of pure crack.
