Driver's Ed [Wednesday, Period Four]

The Danger Shop was set up to look like the outside parking lot of a high class European casino at night. There were a number of identical, sleek, gray cars parked near Bond.

"This is the Aston Martin DBS," he began, after the class, with the notable exception of the TA, had assembled, gesturing towards the nearest of the cars. "Handles well, with an excellent turn of speed. You'll be using them in your mid-term today.

"Now, shortly, a car will be passing through that road there, at very high speed, there will be a series of such cars at various intervals. Your task will be to take it in turn to follow a car, as closely as you're able, until the end of the sim. After you've finished the sim, you're free to go."

At that moment, a car came screeching down the road Bond had previously indicated.

"So, who's first?"

Aravis, to put things lightly, did not enjoy her current position.

She was doing her best to keep her eyes shut, and remind herself it was a sim, but all in all it was not a particularly good day for her thus far.

As soon as Sam saw Aravis, he slammed on the brakes and swerved the car hard to the side, letting out some very un-Sam-like language.

Aravis curled up on herself with a shriek as soon as she saw the headlights approaching, and when the car swerved, she found herself hoping that whoever was in it was all right.

Even if it was a simulation.

So there Turtle was, driving along, tra-la-la, only much more frustrated because she couldn't seem to get to the speed she needed to catch up. Her knuckles were white from her grip on the wheel and there was maybe an inch, at most, of her butt actually on the seat, on the edge, as she leaned forward in determination.

Only to turn the corner with a body in her path. Turtle's eyes widened, sputtering out a quick, un-Turtle-like "Oh shi--" before she leaned back against the back of her seat, slamming on the brake and turning the wheel in a desperate attempt to get the car away from where it would run over people, because running over people was bad especially when you were speeding (even if she was only doing what she'd been told), and just hoped, hoped, hoped that there wasn't anything on the side of the road that was going to hurt too much when she inevitably went smashing into it. Or falling off of it. Or any other such terrible, awful scenario that was still better than running over a person.

Aravis again hoped that whoever was in the car wouldn't get fake-hurt in their attempt to not fake-hurt her.

And then she hated Bond some more.

Jenny had been taught that the best way to avoid killing yourself in an accident was to hit the thing in front of you head-on (unless it was, you know, a brick wall). Unfortunately, she had just enough time to process that this probably wasn't what Bond wanted them to do at all. She swerved hard right, shouting, "DOOR DOOR DOOR!" as she did so.

No, she's not crazy.

Robin screamed, a lot, and panicked. His flailing at the steering wheel swerved the car off the road, avoiding Aravis.

Sorry for the several mistakes. This time should work.

Amber squinted, then her jaw fell open at seeing the body in the middle of the road. "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" She slammed on the brakes and swerved hard to the side, thinking she might become a drunk like her ma after this was all overwith.

"Oh frak!" Lee shouted, swerving sharply to the side as he hit the brakes. And yes, he closed his eyes. He couldn't help it.
