How to Survive Your Own Cooking, Tuesday

"Welcome, everyone, to your midterm. I hope you enjoyed your week away from classes. I apologise for missing last class on such short notice -- I had a minor personal emergency to deal with that kept me away. I trust you all received the email about the midterm being delayed, and have come prepared?" Her smile carried just enough authority to show that class that, if they hadn't, they'd be dealing with her directly. ANd it wouldn't be pleasant. "As I said before, the midterm is composed of three courses: salad, soup, and entree, none of which may be recipes directly from this class. You should find anything and everything you need here in the kitchen. You have fifty minutes, at which point I will be coming around to taste your meals. Time can handwavily be enough for whatever you're making -- yay, Fandom!

"As I said, you were welcome to invite friends and classmates to join in your meals if you wish.

"You may begin."

Really. It really, really was.

A spiced roast leg of lamb (http://southernfood.about.com/od/lambroasts/r/bl60407d.htm).

Beside the lamb are three wrapped candies (http://www.cookingdebauchery.com/cooking_debauchery/2008/02/szechuan-pepper.html).

There's pasta. There's sauce. Possibly the sauce could've done without that last habanero pepper, but Carmela's of the opinion that it turned out quite well, thank you. Still, there's a nice tall glass of milk next to the plate, just in case.

Seafood enchiladas (http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,1645,156172-242200,00.html) totally went with an Asian salad and soup. He was doing fusion cooking here, people.

Jenny prepared pasta, then tossed it with mayonnaise, olive oil, canned tuna in oil (drained and flaked), diced roasted red bell peppers, and a pinch of red pepper flakes. It was cooking! Really!

((And tasty, I swear.))

Sam made sweet potato hash with bacon minus the red peppers because he didn't like those.

The chicken and rice (http://www.recipezaar.com/1857) recipe he picked... well, Makoto wasn't so sure about it, but he definitely gave it his best shot.

Summer attempted to make chicken pot pie and likely failed.

Harry had gone with chicken, because chicken was easy. He'd even gone so far as to bread the chicken after smacking it a few times with a mallet (what? it was fun). There may even have been some herbs involved in the coating. Hopefully it was tasty.
