How to Survive Your Own Cooking, Tuesday

"Welcome, everyone, to your midterm. I hope you enjoyed your week away from classes. I apologise for missing last class on such short notice -- I had a minor personal emergency to deal with that kept me away. I trust you all received the email about the midterm being delayed, and have come prepared?" Her smile carried just enough authority to show that class that, if they hadn't, they'd be dealing with her directly. ANd it wouldn't be pleasant. "As I said before, the midterm is composed of three courses: salad, soup, and entree, none of which may be recipes directly from this class. You should find anything and everything you need here in the kitchen. You have fifty minutes, at which point I will be coming around to taste your meals. Time can handwavily be enough for whatever you're making -- yay, Fandom!

"As I said, you were welcome to invite friends and classmates to join in your meals if you wish.

"You may begin."

Mikey got hung up on the "broth" part with his soup.

Needless to say, there wasn't much in it. Oh, wait! A pea!

Cream of tomato! This, Carmela feels, is an accomplishment considering the last time she made this kind of soup, "making" involved "dumping a can into a bowl, then putting the bowl into the microwave".

The soup was gazpacho, because Jenny figured she couldn't set anything on fire if there was no actual cooking involved.

Okay, so, Chad was a little ambitious. And prepared. He had brought in with him some chicken paste filled, prepped wontons to go in his wonton soup with a chicken and cabbage broth.

He was... well, not confident exactly, but not too worried about the red lentil soup (http://www.recipezaar.com/286326). After all, it hadn't killed anyone when he'd practiced making it in the common room.

Harry wasn't sure how well this was going to go, but here he was attempting a cheesy potato soup recipe. He'd been hungry when he'd gone through the cookbooks.
