Interactive Religion [Tuesday, March 4]
Biff walked into the Danger Room and sang out, "Midterrrrrrrrrrrrm!"
Then blinked.
Because he had actually sung out that word. Weird.
"Today we are having a midterm," he continued as the music swelled around himin a distinctly West-Side Story kind of way.
"and suddenly you'll see
how miserable a man I be...
He frowned, but grammar must give way for the lyrics.
Midterm, say it once and it sooooooooounds like dying
Say it soft and you'll feel like crying.
Midterm: you'll never stop failing this midtermmmmmmmmmmm.
He shrugged. Fortunately, he'd printed out instructions for the actual test.

Take the midterm!
There are also four boxes: one labeled "Roman Gods", one labeled "Judaism", one labeled "Taoism" and one labeled "Buddhism."
Put an object in each of the boxes that represented the lesson you learned about those religions. There are way more objects than there are boxes, and more than one object can represent each religion.
You also have five minutes to do this.
Mod how long it took and what objects you put where.

At which point Jamie shut his mouth and laid down on the floor until the music went away. Sure he flunked his midterm but at least he didn't torture anyone with his singing.
Re: Take the midterm!
Then she started to see it. Maybe. Sort of.
She put the tea cup and the pot of blue paint in the box labeled "Taoism." The jug of water and the stuffed camel went in "Judaism." The tiny stone Apollo went for "Roman Gods." And the pole and yellow robe went to "Buddhism," although she remembered them being orange, so she chewed her lip over whether that was a trick question.
And then Rikku put the sombrero on her own head. Because otherwise she was going to set it on the floor and start doing the Mexican Hat Dance around it, and that was probably a bad idea. She was humming it, anyway.
She had about a minute and a half left. She resisted the urge to dig the camel out of the box and make it take a walk
to Candy Mountain, Charliearound the classroom.Re: Take the midterm!
The pole and the yellow robe went right into the Buddhism box.
He drank the cup of coffee. Carefully. Figured that was just the best place it could possibly go.
The water, scroll, and camel were stuffed into the box marked Judaism, and the olive branch and the stone Apollo found their way into the Roman Gods box.
For the life of him, he didn't know what to do with the feathers, so he just made an "M" out of them (which required bending one in the middle) and arranging them over the sombrero. "Mexico."
All in all, it took him about four and a half minutes.
Re: Take the midterm!
Hopefully Biff would take unexpected equineity with equanimity, and grade accordingly.
Apollo went into the Roman box, along with half an olive branch (he was eating the other half - horsie instincts had gotten the better of him) and the scroll.
The camel, the sombrero, the water, the coffee and a feather went into Judaism.
The pole and a feather went into Buddhism.
A feather and the cup of tea went into the Taoism box.
Karal tried to put the blue paint in there, as well, but all he had were teeth and hooves. When it popped open and fell off the table, it splashed all over his chest and dripped down his front legs.
Looking guilty, he dragged the robes off the desk and carefully dropped them over the puddle on the floor.
Maybe no one would notice.
Re: Take the midterm!
The he started singing.
The wise men told Maya
You're gonna bear the Buddha-Buddha
The wise men told Maya
You're gonna bear the Buddha-Buddha
He will teach men about Dharma-Dharma
Under the Bodhi tree
Four Noble Truths
And the Eightfold Pathy-Pathy
Four Noble Truths
And the Eightfold Pathy-Pathy
Mean Nirvana and no more wrathy-wrathy
Under the bodhi tree...
Re: Take the midterm!
She distributed the rest of the objects more or less evenly, and sorta correctly. but she did finish on time
Re: Take the midterm!
Shaking it off, he put the stone Apollo in the Roman Gods box, the scroll and the camel in the Judaism box (the scroll looked lonely on its own, and there were camels in the desert, right?), the blue paint and tea cup in the Taoism box, and the pole and yellow robe in the boxes. At the last minute, he stuck the olive branch in with Apollo.
Re: Take the midterm!
"Peter pumpkinhead came to town
Spreading wisdom and cash around
Fed the starving and housed the poor
Showed the vatican what golds for
But he made too many enemies
Of the people who would keep us on our knees
Hooray for peter pumpkin
Wholl pray for peter pumpkinhead?"
The objects might have been slightly eccentric in their interpretations, but they did make sense.

To entertain himself, he was prancing a little in place and snorting under his breath. It might just sound a little like a tune with quiet, percussive accompaniment.
