Choosing Your Own Government--Monday, Period 5, Class #8

Evey felt almost out of place as she stood at the front of the classroom, eyes wide and taking in every movement of every classmate.

"Hello," she said quietly, when she was certain everyone who would arrive had done so. "Vala's a bit indisposed at the moment," or, rather, MIA, "so I'll be covering class today. And since she didn't leave a lesson plan, we're going to watch a film." Because Evey was nowhere near ready to try to speak about her personal experience or relate another form of government.

"I haven't seen this one, but it sounds like it relates," she said, popping in the movie. "Sleep if you like. It's your time to waste."

John frowned, "Definitely Karal. Want me to find you some carrots?"

The hoof was moved, and he nodded his head, ears curving forward again as he looked hopefully at John.

"Yeah, I'm not too keen on this movie anyway," John said. "I'm sure I can find some in the cafeteria for you."

For that, John got an affectionate nudge and a friendly whicker. Karal was hungry, and not all too keen on eating grass.

John shook his head, not really believing he was going to find Karal the horse some carrots. But he left, returning rather quickly with some fresh, orange veggies.

"Here you go...boy," John said, offering up the carrots.

Karal eyed him at the word 'boy' - I am still Karal, you know. - but very delicately bit down on one carrot and pulled it free.

And promptly dropped half of it. This is not as easy as Trenor makes it look.

"You know, you could take a few lessons from Trenor," John told him, watching Karal drop the carrot piece. "He's one of the neatest eaters I've ever worked with."

He blew out a breath at John, ears canted to the side as he chewed the carrot piece. It wasn't exactly neat.

But Trenor has been a horse his whole life; I've been a horse for only a few hours.
