Choosing Your Own Government--Monday, Period 5, Class #8

Evey felt almost out of place as she stood at the front of the classroom, eyes wide and taking in every movement of every classmate.

"Hello," she said quietly, when she was certain everyone who would arrive had done so. "Vala's a bit indisposed at the moment," or, rather, MIA, "so I'll be covering class today. And since she didn't leave a lesson plan, we're going to watch a film." Because Evey was nowhere near ready to try to speak about her personal experience or relate another form of government.

"I haven't seen this one, but it sounds like it relates," she said, popping in the movie. "Sleep if you like. It's your time to waste."

Evey cares not what you do, as long as she doesn't have to listen to it.

She doesn't know where Vala is either.

Silly work and school will be keeping me AFK a good chunk of the day; hence, lame class. Sorrry omg.

John Sheppard

John was glad he finally realized that the girl in class was that Evey. He made a note to tease Karal later.

Karal Austreben (which was actually a careful hoofprint)

It was hard to be a horse in a classroom.

Karal crept as delicately as he could to the back of the class (only knocking over one desk on the way) and stayed there, trying to make himself look as small as possible.

And there was a largish horse, ears pointing straight forward, diffidently walking over to try and touch her with his nose.

Karal had no idea how to tell her it was him.

Interesting movie or not, John was a little distracted by the horse in the room. "New student?" he asked.

Karal flipped his ears at John and shook his head. He had no clue how to tell him who he was.

"At least you're not a talking horse," John said, disappointed there would be no Mr. Ed jokes here. "Though, your mane's a little fancier than I'd expect for any normal horse."

And now he was curving one ear back, the horse equivalent of a raised eyebrow, as if to say, what's wrong with my mane? He also snorted at John.

"Huh, so I'm thinking you understand what I'm saying," John said, grinning a little at the horse's reaction. "Don't get me wrong, a stallion needs some style. Maybe you're here looking for a mate. I could introduce you around to the other horses in the stable."

Gwynn Hood

Karal's ears went flat back and he snapped the air, reacting without thought before he caught himself.

Oh, Bright Flame. You are not a horse, no matter what you look like! Looking completely mortified and more than a little apologetic, he scraped the ground with one hoof while he pointed his nose at Evey.

Evey had, oddly enough, noticed the horse in the classroom, yes. She'd gotten used enough to Fandom to think that maybe it was a new student.

"You're...not Trenor," she noted helpfully, carefully stroking his nose.

Anemone

Anemone had gotten back from visiting John very very early this morning, so she was perfectly happy to sleep her way through the movie.

John glanced at their TA. "No, that's Karal's Evey," John said. "I don't think he'd share with you, no matter how much he likes Trenor."

He bobbed his head up and down, tapped his hoof on the floor, then waved it in the air, trying to point at himself. Yes, exactly, Karal's Evey. I'm Karal!

He shook his head, sighing a little as she stroked his nose. It was very distracting, but he was still trying to figure out how to tell her.

He tapped his hoof on the floor to get her attention.

Evey looked down at the floor where he was tapping. "Do you understand me, then? Two taps for yes."
